Students' associations with the STEM acronym and their impact on value beliefs and STEM choices. [PDF]

open access: yesAnn N Y Acad Sci
The perceived meaning of the acronym STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) affected value beliefs and school career decisions for STEM. Associations of the STEM acronym with mathematics increased cost beliefs, which in turn decreased decisions for STEM careers.

Speed Limit Compliance Index (SLCI): A Conceptual Method to Enhance the Efficiency of the Advisory Intelligent Speed Adaptation System

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Globally, as many as 50 million road users are injured in road traffic crashes and about 1.35 million of them die. Between 2002 and 2030, global deaths resulting from injuries caused by road traffic accidents are predicted to increase by over 40%. Speeding has a relatively eminent relationship with accident involvement and severity.

Buoyancy Effect on a Micropolar Fluid Flow Past a Vertical Riga Surface Comprising Water‐Based SWCNT–MWCNT Hybrid Nanofluid Subject to Partially Slipped and Thermal Stratification: Cattaneo–Christov Model

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the mixed convective flow that comprises SWCNT‐MWCNT/water hybrid nanofluid containing micropolar fluid through a partially slipped vertical Riga surface. A Cattaneo–Christov heat flux model is used to examine the heat transport rate.

Transmutations of Long‐Lived and Medium‐Lived Fission Products Extracted from CANDU and PWR Spent Fuels in an Accelerator‐Driven System

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
This study presents the time‐dependent analyses of transmutations of long‐lived fission products (LLFPs) and medium‐lived fission products (MLFPs) occurring in thermal reactors in a conceptual helium gas‐cooled accelerator‐driven system (ADS). In accordance with this purpose, the CANDU‐37 and PWR 15 × 15 spent fuels are separately considered.

Through‐Wall Radar Classification of Human Posture Using Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Through‐wall detection and classification are highly desirable for surveillance, security, and military applications in areas that cannot be sensed using conventional measures. In the domain of these applications, a key challenge is an ability not only to sense the presence of individuals behind the wall but also to classify their actions and postures.
