Ultrasound, PET/CT or temporal artery biopsy for giant cell arteritis? A prospective diagnostic accuracy study (the GAME‐study)

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 6, Page e695-e708, September 2026.
Abstract Purpose To investigate the diagnostic performance of ultrasound, 2‐deoxy‐2‐[18F]fluoro‐D‐glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (2‐[18F]FDG PET/CT) and temporal artery biopsy (TAB) in giant cell arteritis (GCA). Methods This was a prospective single‐centre diagnostic accuracy study (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT05248906).

Identification of the transcription factor MAZ as a regulator of erythropoiesis.

open access: yesBlood Advances, 2021
Erythropoiesis requires a combination of ubiquitous and tissue-specific transcription factors (TFs). Here, through DNA affinity purification followed by mass spectrometry, we have identified the widely expressed protein MAZ (Myc-associated zinc finger ...

Intragenic loss-of-function variants in transcription factors MAZ, FOXP1, and SIN3B in colobomatous microphthalmia

open access: yesJournal of Medical Genetics
Despite the identification of many genes involved in developmental eye phenotypes, a large percentage of families lack genetic diagnoses, suggesting novel mechanisms remain to be discovered.

Long‐Acting Cabotegravir/Rilpivirine Reduces Immune‐Activation and ‐Senescence in People With HIV With CMV Co‐Infection

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 179, Issue 1, Page 138-148, September 2026.
This study investigates the impact of switching to long‐acting (LA) injectable cabotegravir and rilpivirine (CAB/RPV‐LA) on immune‐activation and ‐senescence in people with HIV (PWH). Thirty‐seven PWH switching to CAB/RPV‐LA and nine continuing oral ART were analysed over 72 weeks. LA therapy led to significant reductions in activation T and senescence

Identification of Epigenetic Regulator‐Associated Genes in Keloid Disease Through Integrated Bulk and Single‐Cell Transcriptomics With RT‐qPCR Validation

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 16, 31 August 2026.
Step I: Screened HR/SMYD4 as key keloid epigenetic genes via bulk/scRNA‐seq and machine learning. Step II: Built a high‐performance nomogram (AUC = 0.988). Step III: Conducted multi‐omics analyses. Step IV: Experimentally verified their differential expression and pathogenic roles.

G‐Quadruplexes: Structural Diversity and Emerging Roles in Biomolecular Condensation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 45, 13 August 2026.
G‐quadruplexes (G4s) fold into diverse intra‐ and intermolecular structures, positioning them as emerging regulators of biomolecular condensation. Mechanistically, G4s autonomously form condensates, act as structural platforms to initiate and stimulate condensation, or induce phase transitions.

Application of a Combined Transcriptomics and Proteomics Analysis Approach to Explore Potential Mechanisms of Biomarkers in NIHL

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study performed a time‐series analysis of cochlear tissues from mice prior to noise exposure (CN) and at 1, 14, and 28 days post‐exposure. Through the integration of transcriptomics and proteomics techniques, we identified dynamically differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and proteins (DEPs).

Maternal and infant gut microbiome

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2026.
The maternal–infant continuum involves critical windows of host–microbiota co‐adaptation. Preconception, maternal and paternal microbiomes modulate immunity and reproduction. During pregnancy, a gut–placenta axis emerges, where microbial metabolites influence fetal growth or contribute to complications like gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM ...
