Molecular Spiral Structure in M51
1990We present a mosaic map of M51 in the 12CO 1→0 line made with the Owens Valley mm-interferometer. The molecular arms we see are narrow and show an offset relative to the Ha emission. They also show coincidence with the dust lanes. Several interarm emission regions have also been detected, but with very little accompanying Ha emission.
