Selection of Apple Trees (Malus domestica Borkh.) Based on Genetic Parameters Estimated Through Mixed Models

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In Brazilian apple breeding (Malus domestica Borkh.), Active Germplasm Banks are providing the genetic diversity required for selecting genotypes with low chilling requirements, high yield and superior fruit quality. This study estimated genetic parameters and perform genotype selection based on phenotypic traits from the IDR‐Paraná breeding ...

Kinetochore size correlates with chromosome size in Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum kochii Parl., Asparagaceae)

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Cytogenetic quantification of KNL1‐labelled kinetochores in Ornithogalum kochii reveals a significant positive scaling relationship between chromosome size and kinetochore size, demonstrating that chromosome–kinetochore scaling operates even across moderate intra‐karyotype size variation.

The Role of Daily and Monthly Bias Corrected Data in Preserving the Monthly Cross‐Correlation Between Precipitation and Temperature

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 7, 15 June 2026.
Daily bias‐correction aggregated to monthly scale preserves the cross‐correlation between precipitation and temperature better than direct monthly bias‐correction. The Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) method outperforms Quantile Regression (QR) and MACA, yielding lower bias and higher accuracy, highlighting its suitability for multivariate climate ...

Antioxidant activity, total polyphenol, anthocyanin and benzyl-glucosinolate contents in different phenotypes and portion of Japanese Maca (Lepidium meyenii)

open access: yesHeliyon
Maca (Lepidium meyenii), mainly grown in Peru, is a traditional herbal medicine that is mostly used to improve sperm motility and serum hormone levels. Maca phenotypes are represented by purple, black, yellow, white, and mixed colors.

Bayesian Optimization of Solvent‐Free Thermal Amidation via Reactive Extrusion

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 22, 9 June 2026.
Thermal amidation between a carboxylic acid and an amine was successfully conducted in an extruder in the absence of solvent, coupling agent, or catalyst, relying on an adapted Bayesian Optimization protocol. Active pharmaceutical ingredient moclobemide was synthesized on a larger scale, achieving excellent yield and low Process Mass Intensity (PMI ...

Effect of Lepidium meyenii on in vitro fertilization via improvement in acrosome reaction and motility of mouse and human sperm

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, 2019
Purpose The direct effects of Lepidium meyenii (Maca) on sperm remain unclear. Herein, we examined the direct effect of Maca on in vitro fertilization. Methods We examined the fertilization rate in a mouse model and the rate of acrosome reaction in sperm

Genetic Diversity of the Beta‐Casein Gene in Brown Swiss and Creole Cattle From the Peruvian Highlands

open access: yesAnimal Genetics, Volume 57, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Cattle's milk and derivatives are essential for human nutrition. However, up to 90% of people experience gastrointestinal discomfort after consumption. Milk digestibility depends on its protein composition. Casein, about 80% of milk proteins, includes beta‐casein (CSN2) with two variants: A1 and A2. The A1 variant is linked to gastrointestinal
