H-Mac: A Hybrid MAC Protocol for VANET
2013This paper proposes a Hybrid Mac protocol(H-MAC) that combines reservation and competition mechanisms to solve the sudden burst data flow at link layer of the VANET(Vehicle Ad hoc Network). Based on the entire network time synchronization, H-MAC protocol divides a frame cycle into two parts.

RS-MAC: A fusion ranging of WSN MAC protocol
2013 IEEE 4th International Conference on Software Engineering and Service Science, 2013Focusing on ranging overhead for WSN, this paper researches the method of time-based ranging process into MAC protocol packet interaction, and analyzes ranging error and the method of error elimination, and proposes a fusion ranging of WSN RS-MAC protocol. The protocol can realize time-based ranging in the process of packet transmission.

Distributed Reservation-Based MAC Protocol for UWB WiMedia MAC
2012 IEEE 26th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications, 2012UWB WiMedia MAC has been widely used in wireless multimedia networks, but it suffers from inefficient channel utilization. In this paper, we propose a reservation based MAC protocol for multimedia data to increase the channel utilization efficiency. The proposed scheme has two components.

The Demand Priority MAC protocol
IEEE Network, 1995A new technology needs to offer more than just 100 Mb/s. To succeed in the LAN marketplace, a new LAN technology must be very cost competitive with the established LANs, such as Ethernet and Token Ring, while also providing backwards compatibility with existing network software.

Partnership-Based Cooperative MAC Protocol
2010 7th IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, 2010We propose a Partnership-based Cooperative MAC protocol (PC-MAC) based on the Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) protocol in wireless networks. The contribution of this paper is twofold. First, we introduce a Cooperative InterFrame Space (CIFS) for latency reduction and second, we introduce a control frame called Request to Cooperate (RTC) for on ...

A Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is considered as a special type of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) with its own challenges and requirements. A traditional WSN is designed to achieve higher efficiency, however, WBAN is designed to achieve maximum throughput, minimum delay and to maximize the energy efficiency, all together.

Misbehavior Constraint MAC Protocol (MC-MAC) for Wireless Networks
2019The IEEE 802.11 protocol assumes that all wireless network nodes will abide by the protocol and cooperate well with it. However, in order to obtaining more channel resources or destroying network performance, some selfish nodes will be in misbehaviors when they are in the certain condition wireless contention-sharing channels, such as, Backoff Value ...

CBH-MAC: Contention-Based Hybrid MAC Protocol for WSNs
2020It is challenging to design a hybrid MAC scheme for delay aware data traffic in WSNs. The Contention-Based Hybrid MAC (CBH-MAC) protocol is proposed where each sensor node operates the reservation procedure used in cross and chain topology, resulting in energy efficiency, maximizing the packet delivery ratio, minimizing contention around the nodes, and

Per-packet reservation MAC protocols
SPIE Proceedings, 2006Recent and future communications networks have to provide QoS guarantees for a rapidly growing number of various telecommunications services. Therefore, various communications systems, such as wireless and fixed access networks, apply reservation MAC protocols, providing a good network utilization, which is particularly important access networks with ...
