Egg Transport in the Macaque (Macaca fascicularis) [PDF]
utilizing serial laparoscopy. Egg transport was evaluated by segmental flushing of the oviducts and uterus. Ovulated eggs, transferred rabbit eggs, and microspheres were transported to the ampullary-isthmic regicm by 48 hr, were retained in the isthmus between 48 and 96 hr, and entered the uterus between 96 and 120 hr after ovulation.

Abstract Background Titanium nanoparticle (TP) migration into peri‐implant bone may influence osseointegration. It remains unclear how loading protocols may affect TP distribution. This study aimed to detect TP in the bone around implants undergoing different loading protocols in Macaca fascicularis.

Functions of an unreported "rocking-embrace" gesture between female Japanese Macaques (Macaca fuscata) in Kinkazan Island, Japan. [PDF]
Recently, research has focused on the effects of the concurrence of multimodal signals and their efficacy and meaning. We observed an unreported behaviour, a ventro-ventral "rocking-embrace" gesture that is always accompanied by lip smacking as the ...

Confocal Raman microscopy was used to map the dentin–enamel junction (DEJ) across four mammalian species. Chemical maps highlighted variations in mineral (phosphate/carbonate) and organic (amide/CH) phase. These results provide a comparative Raman framework to link tooth microchemistry with species‐specific structure and function.

Social Relationships in Free-Ranging Male [PDF]
Macaque social relationships differ greatly between species. Based on captive studies that focus mainly on females, researchers have classified stumptail macaque (Macaca arctoides) social relationships as tolerant, as indicated by a high rate of ...

Abstract Background Parkinson's disease is mainly characterized by dopaminergic neurodegeneration in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) and α‐synuclein accumulation. The locus coeruleus (LC) is also affected in Parkinson's disease and linked to some nonmotor symptoms, but the extent and timing of its degeneration remain unclear.

In Vivo Multimodal Imaging of Drusenoid Lesions in Rhesus Macaques. [PDF]
Nonhuman primates are the only mammals to possess a true macula similar to humans, and spontaneously develop drusenoid lesions which are hallmarks of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
