Broadband Directional Thermal Radiation with Asymmetric Femtosecond Laser‐Processed Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Femtosecond laser processing is used to scalably create self‐organized angled microstructures which exhibit highly directional emissivity that occurs for all polarizations. Laser parameters are tuned to alter the surface features, control the direction of emission, and enhance the directional emissivity. Electromagnetic modeling is performed to analyze

Recent Advances in Machine-to-Machine Communications

open access: yesJournal of Computer and Communications, 2016
In the near future, there are expected to have at least billions of devices interconnected with each other. How to connect so many devices becomes a big issue. Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications serve as the fundamental underlying technologies to support such Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The characteristics and services requirements

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.
