Morphometric variation of the oriental river prawn (Macrobrachium nipponense) in Taiwan

open access: yesLimnologica, 2015
AbstractMorphometric differences were used to elucidate the stock geographic variations and phylogeography of Macrobrachium nipponense in Taiwan. Eight samples were collected from three estuaries (Tamsui River Estuary [TSE], Kaoping River Estuary [KPE], and Houlung River Estuary [HLE]) and five reservoirs (Shimen Reservoir [SMR], Mingde Reservoir [MDR],

Preparation of Water‐Soluble Yeast β‐Glucan by Electron Beam Irradiation Combined With Hydrogen Peroxide Treatment and Evaluation of Its Effect on the Survival and Productivity of Penaeus monodon Shrimp in Intensive Farming Culture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Low molecular weight (Mw) β‐glucans have been reported to have better growth promotion and immunostimulant activity in shrimps than that of native β‐glucans. In this study, yeast water‐insoluble β‐glucan was degraded by electron beam (EB) irradiation in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to prepare water‐soluble and low Mw β‐glucans.

De Novo Transcriptome Assembly Reveals Insights Into Osmoregulation and Oxidative Stress Response in the Gills of the Southern King Crab (Lithodes santolla)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2025.
The Southern King Crab (Lithodes santolla), an ecologically and commercially important species in sub‐Antarctic waters. In this study, we assembled the first gill de novo transcriptome of L. santolla to characterize gene expression related to environmental responses.

Research on the Application of Green Ecological Additive Combinations During the Breeding Period of Redclaw Crayfish

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 5, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The three key processes in the breeding of redclaw crayfish are nutrient enhancement by parents, catching and hatching of egg‐holding crayfish and maintaining a feed supply for juveniles. An appropriate combination of green ecological additives is beneficial for improving the production efficiencies of the three key processes.

Molecular Cloning, Characterization, and mRNA Expression of Hemocyanin Subunit in Oriental River Prawn Macrobrachium nipponense

open access: yesInternational Journal of Genomics, 2016
Hemocyanin is a copper-containing protein with immune function against disease. In this study, a hemocyanin subunit named MnHc-1 was cloned from Macrobrachium nipponense. The full-length cDNA of MnHc-1 was 2,163 bp with a 2,028-bp open reading frame (ORF)

Molecular characterization and functional identification of the insulin-like peptides receptor gene in the oriental river prawn Macrobrachium nipponense

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
The insulin-like signaling pathway plays diverse biological roles in regulating metabolism, immune responses, growth, and development in invertebrates. The insulin-like peptides (ILP) receptor (ILPR) is the pivotal protein in any insulin-like signaling ...

Transcriptomic, histological and biochemical analyses of Macrobrachium nipponense response to acute heat stress

open access: yesAquaculture and Fisheries
Temperature is an essential environmental factor affecting the viability of organisms. Temperature changes could cause damages or even death. The oriental river prawn, Macrobrachium nipponense, is widely distributed in East Asian countries, and has been ...
