In this investigation the coastal B.C. kelp, Macrocystis integrifolia, was evaluated for its potential use as a soil amendment and foliar spray in crop production. The kelp soil amendment was applied fresh to a fine-textured deltaic soil with applications of 0, 7.5, 15, 30, 60 and 120 t ha⁻¹.

The feeding behaviour of the kelp clingfish Rimicola muscarum Meek and Pierson residing on the blades of the kelp Macrocystis integrifolia Bory was described.
