Abstract Plants can detect neighbouring plants through a reduction in the ratio between red and far‐red light (R:FR). This provides a signal of plant–plant competition and induces rapid plant growth while inhibiting defence against biotic stress, two interlinked responses designated as the shade avoidance syndrome (SAS).

Intraguild predation between Macrolophus pygmaeus and Aphidius ervi [PDF]
This work investigates the intraguild predation (IGP) between the predator Macrolophus pygmaeus Rambur (Hemiptera Miridae) and the aphid parasitoid Aphidius ervi Haliday (Hymenoptera Braconidae). In particular, predation on parasitized Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) (Hemiptera Aphididae) aphids was studied at two different stages of parasitism.

Risk Assessment Of Macrolophus Pygmaeus As Biological Control Product
Macrolophus pygmaeus on the other hand, is already established in Norway. VKM considers that dispersal/migration of M. pygmaeus into the surrounding environment when used for biological control in greenhouses, tunnels and open fields is very likely, and that such escapes (animals) are likely to become established in the environment.
