Lectotypification of Macroptilium atropurpureum (Leguminosae)
Macroptilium atropurpureum is an economically important forage species. The species is native to the Americas but it is widely cultivated throughout the tropics and subtropics. There is no updated taxonomic revision of Macroptilium covering its full geographical range and historically there have been some nomenclatural vacillations regarding the rank ...

Cytogenetic characterization and karyotype evolution in six Macroptilium species (Leguminosae)
Genome, 2023Macroptilium (Benth.) Urb. is a neotropical legume genus from the subtribe Phaseolinae. The investigated species present a stable chromosome number (2 n = 22), but differ in their karyotype formulae, suggesting the presence of chromosome rearrangements. In this work, we comparatively analysed the karyotypes of six species ( Macroptilium atropurpureum,

Typological interpretation of the inflorescence in Macroptilium (Fabaceae)
Flora, 1993Summary The inflorescences of Macroptilium prostratum (B enth .) U rban var. prostratum , M. fraternum (P iper ) L ackey , M. lathyroides (L.) U rban and M. atropurpureum (L.) U rban were typologically investigated. All these species are characterized by truncate, polytelic synflorescences and by synflorescence proliferation.

The genus Begomovirus (family Geminiviridae) includes plant viruses that have a negative impact on the production of several economically important crops worldwide. Begomoviruses infect a wide range of non-cultivated plants, which may serve as alternative hosts or inoculum sources for epidemics in crops.

Evaluation of bred lines of Macroptilium atropurpureum
Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, 1978Improvement over cv. Siratro in five advanced lines from an M. atropurpureum breeding programme was evaluated at four sites (with two soil-types at one site) during four growing seasons. On all except four of the 20 environment/season occasions all the bred lines produced a dry-matter yield markedly higher than that of Siratro.
