Macroscopic stochastic thermodynamics
Starting at the mesoscopic level with a general formulation of stochastic thermodynamics in terms of Markov jump processes, we identify the scaling conditions that ensure the emergence of a (typically nonlinear) deterministic dynamics and an extensive thermodynamics at the macroscopic level.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

From nanoscopic to macroscopic photo-driven motion in azobenzene-containing materials
The illumination of azobenzene molecules with UV/visible light efficiently converts the molecules between trans and cis isomerization states. Isomerization is accompanied by a large photo-induced molecular motion, which is able to significantly affect ...

Macroscopic ferromagnetic dynamics
In metals with finite magnetization M→, experiment shows that transverse polarized dc spin currents J→i both decay and precess on crossing a finite sample thickness. The present work uses Onsager’s irreversible thermodynamics, with M→ and J→i as fundamental variables, to develop a theory with aspects of the Landau–Lifshitz theory solely for the M→ of ...

Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.

Topographical anatomy of the albino rat’s ischiotrochanteric muscle group
The obturator internus, gemelli, and quadratus femoris muscles are thought to be postural muscles. Thus, they are in the focus of research. Although these muscles are described in other species, detailed descriptions are still lacking for the albino rat.

In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

On the Domain of Applicability of General Relativity [PDF]
We consider the domain of applicability of general relativity (GR), as a classical theory of gravity, by considering its applications to a variety of settings of physical interest as well as its relationship with real observations.

Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.
