Study of The Relationship of Water Quality with The Ecological Index of Aquatic Biota in The Permata Pilang Beach Estuary Area, Probolinggo

open access: yesJurnal Biota, 2022
The sustainable use of estuary areas is needed to maintain the sustainability. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship of water quality with ecological index of aquatic biota in The Permata Pilang Beach Estuary Area, Probolinggo.

Biodiversity of macrozoobenthos in a large river, the Austrian Danube, including quantitative studies in a free-flowing stretch below Vienna: a short review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The Danube is ca. 2850 km in length and is the second largest river in Europe. The Austrian part of the Danube falls 156 metres in altitude over its 351 km length and, since the early 1950s, the river has been developed into a power-generating waterway ...

MACROZOOBENTHOS DIVERSITY OF SAI RIVER AT RAEBARELI, INDIA

open access: yesInternational Journal on Biological Sciences, 2021
Macrozoobenthos are the best indicators of the stress in the aquatic ecosystem. Distribution of macrozoobenthos is determined by a number of factors such as physical nature of the substratum, depth, nutritive content of the water body. Present study was conducted to assess the diversity of macrozoobenthos of Sai River, Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh during ...

Effects of Lateral Hydrological Connectivity on the Taxonomic and Functional Structure of Fish Communities in Saône River Floodplains (France): Implications for Non‐Native Species Distribution

open access: yesFreshwater Biology, Volume 71, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Large alluvial plain rivers provide a complex mosaic of freshwater habitats characterised by a lateral hydrological connectivity (LHC) gradient between the main channel and floodplains. This connectivity plays a key role in structuring aquatic communities, influencing species distribution, diversity, and ecosystem processes.

Quantitative Metabarcoding Reveals the Effects of Ecological Factors and Invasive Species on Functional Diversity of Freshwater Insects

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aquatic insects are the most biodiverse freshwater animals. DNA metabarcoding data are increasingly used to assess variation in insect communities, but they are rarely integrated with information on the abundance or biomass of different taxa that can provide key insights into their functional responses.

A BASELINE STUDY ON MACROZOOBENTHOS ASSEMBLAGES IN PASIR ISLAND

open access: yesJFMR-Journal of Fisheries and Marine Research, 2020
Biodiversity of macrozoobenthos in Pasir Island, Brebes, is under-explored. On the other hand, the baseline information regarding macrozoobenthos is essentially required for better future environmental management.

Subsurface sediment properties and potential impacts of marine sand extraction on sand wave occurrence on the Netherlands Continental Shelf

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 15, December 2025.
This study reveals that a deeper sediment layer on the Netherlands Continental Shelf, which is exposed due to sand extraction, is generally finer and muddier than the previous surface layer. Additionally, the exposure of this layer will generally lead to a reduced occurrence of sand waves.

Macrozoobenthos and environmental changing in the Venice Lagoon (Italy)

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Macrozoobenthos are invertebrates playing a fundamental role in the ecosystem processes of several environments, such as lagoons. They contribute to nutrient cycles, metabolization of pollutants, sediment oxygenation, as well as filtering phytoplankton ...

Interaksi kelimpahan makrozoobenthos dengan kondisi mangrove di Segara Anakan, Cilacap

open access: yesActa Aquatica, 2022
Segara Anakan Lagoon is a unique and distinctive area where most of the ecosystem is dominated by mangrove ecosystems. Some fauna makes the ecosystem as a place for feeding ground, nursery ground and spawning ground for example macrozoobenthos.

SchussenAktivplus: reduction of micropollutants and of potentially pathogenic bacteria for further water quality improvement of the river Schussen, a tributary of Lake Constance, Germany [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The project focuses on the efficiency of combined technologies to reduce the release of micropollutants and bacteria into surface waters via sewage treatment plants of different size and via stormwater overflow basins of different types. As a model river
