Cystoid macular edema associated with omidenepag isopropyl in a phakic eye with an implantable collamer lens: a case report

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology, 2023
Background Cystoid macular edema is a known complication of omidenepag isopropyl usage. Omidenepag isopropyl is a selective prostanoid EP2 receptor agonist, and its association with macular edema has mainly been identified in pseudophakic eyes.

Quantifying Dehydration Effects of Porcine Vocal Fold Attenuation With Optical Coherence Tomography

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
The purpose of this study is to use optical coherence tomography (OCT) to characterize the effect of dehydration on the optical attenuation coefficient of porcine vocal fold (VF) tissue. The optical attenuation coefficient tissue decreased linearly with dehydration, dropping by approximately 0.08 mm−1 for every 1% increase in mass loss.

Diabetic retinopathy in Greenland and Denmark—Can differences in risk factors explain the lower prevalence in Greenland?

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The prevalence of diabetic retinopathy (DR) is low in Greenland. Factors underlying the low prevalence may potentially protect against the development of DR. Comparing Greenlandic and Danish populations, this register‐based study explored differences in risk factors that may explain differences in DR prevalence.

Surgical Management for Diabetic Macular Edema

open access: yes, 2023
The vitreous body is recognized as one of the causes of diabetic macular edema (DME) via several mechanisms. The observation that spontaneous posterior vitreous detachment could lead to reduction or resolution of DME suggested that the surgical induction

Non‐physician delivered intravitreal injection service: A systematic review of safety, implementation, training and patient experience

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract The global demand for intravitreal anti‐vascular endothelial growth factor (anti‐VEGF) therapy continues to rise, straining ophthalmic capacity worldwide. Task shifting from physicians to trained non‐physician healthcare professionals has emerged as a potential strategy to expand service delivery.
