Interaction study of MADS-domain proteins in tomato [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2008
MADS-domain proteins are important transcription factors involved in many biological processes of plants. Interactions between MADS-domain proteins are essential for their functions. In tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), the number of MIKC(c)-type MADS-domain proteins identified has totalled 36, but a large-scale interaction assay is lacking. In this study,

Transparent Transfer‐Free Ultrasmall Multilayer Graphene Microelectrodes Enable High Quality Recordings in Brain Slices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A transfer‐free fabrication method enables multilayer graphene microelectrodes as small as 10 µm, eliminating reliability issues of manual graphene transfer. These electrodes record neural activity in brain slices with exceptional signal‐to‐noise ratios (up to 25–40 dB) while maintaining optical transparency for multimodal applications.

Prospects for a certified mint supply chain in Morocco based on an assessment of consumers' willingness to pay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In Morocco, there is a weak control of the quality of fruits and vegetables on the domestic market. The present study assesses the prospects for a certified mint value chain (either complying with legal criteria of maximum residue level or using organic ...

Correlations between experimental and theoretical adiabatic ionization energies for organic compounds and rate constants for atmospheric reactions with hydroxyl radicals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Adiabatic ionization energy (AIE) calculations were performed at the AM1, PM3, PM6, PDDG, HF/QZVP, and B3LYP/QZVP levels of theory on 722 atmospherically relevant organic compounds with available experimental rate constants for atmospheric reactions with

Discovery of an Adaptive Neuroimmune Response Driving Itch and Fast Tick Removal with Implications for Preventing Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Doehl et al. discovered an adaptive neuroimmune mechanism that induces itch in tick‐exposed guinea pigs, enabling rapid tick removal. This itch‐induced tick removal (IITR) is mediated by an adaptive cellular immune response and is independent of IgG, IgE, or TRPV1.

European madness 1910–1980: lessons for today from Alastair Morgan's Continental Philosophy of Psychiatry: The Lure of Madness

open access: yesBJPsych Bulletin
In Continental Philosophy of Psychiatry: The Lure of Madness Alastair Morgan surveys the contributions of a loosely conceived school of psychiatrists, philosophers and social theorists to understanding and responding to madness during the years 1910–1980.

B Physics and Quarkonia studies with early ATLAS data

open access: yes, 2010
Quarkonia and B-Physics are among the first areas to be investigated with the first data collected by ATLAS. The ATLAS detector at CERN's LHC is preparing to take data from proton-proton collisions expected to start by the end of 2009.

Microscale Mapping of Fiber Strain and Damage in Composite Wrinkled Laminates Using Computed Tomography Assisted Wide‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...

High-temperature Superconductivity in Layered Nitrides \beta-Li$_x$MNCl (M = Ti, Zr, Hf): Insights from Density-functional Theory for Superconductors

open access: yes, 2012
We present an ab initio analysis with density functional theory for superconductors (SCDFT) to understand the superconducting mechanism of doped layered nitrides \beta-Li$_x$MNCl (M=Ti, Zr, and Hf).
