Tailoring Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Post‐Processing Parameters for JIS SKD61 Tool Steels: Surface Roughness, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Laser powder bed fusion of JIS SKD61 tool steel is systematically optimized using a Taguchi design and ANOVA. Hatch spacing and layer thickness are identified as dominant parameters controlling surface roughness and tensile strength. Subsequent tempering at 600°C improves microstructural stability and mechanical performance, enabling high‐density SKD61

Dy2 Schiff Base Single Molecule Magnet Forming a Halogen Bonding Network: Experiment and Theory

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
A major challenge to improve SMMs is control over phonon‐based relaxation mechanisms, such as the Raman process. We approach this challenge through the incorporation of intermolecular interactions, which can restrict acoustic phonon modes. For this, we engineer the crystal lattice of a Dy2 SMM using halogen bonding and investigate its properties using ...

Torture and scepticism in Papua New Guinea witch hunts Torture et scepticisme dans les chasses aux sorcières en Papouasie‐Nouvelle‐Guinée

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
For over a century, anthropologists have documented the many institutions that exist to respond to witchcraft and the uncanny that it names: oracles that attempt to produce certainty by naming the witch; moots in which grievances are aired; trials in magistrates’ courts that attempt to satisfy the community while preserving the life of the accused ...

Sino‐Mexican Encounters Before the ‘Diplomatic Opening’: Exhibition Diplomacy and Grassroots Friendship in the 1960s

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract During the 1960s, Mexico's Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) embraced Chinese overtures for a commercial opening as consistent with its anti‐imperialist posture, thereby foreshadowing the diplomatic opening to China in 1972. Yet this professed ideological pluralism was eclipsed by an underlying allegiance to the United States' anti ...

An Introduction to Predictive Processing Models of Perception and Decision‐Making

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract The predictive processing framework includes a broad set of ideas, which might be articulated and developed in a variety of ways, concerning how the brain may leverage predictive models when implementing perception, cognition, decision‐making, and motor control.

Group Actions on Magic Squares

open access: yes, 1997
: Two types of magic n \Theta n-squares are studied -- the pandiagonal squares and the W -squares, in which the coefficients of all 2 \Theta 2-submatrices have the same sum.

ALL POSSIBLE PASTS: Heritage, Simulacra, and Gentrification in Seoul

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Urban heritage scholars have often criticized simulacra as ‘bad’ copies that degrade the ‘good’ model of the past through commercialization and gentrification. This article challenges such Platonic dichotomies of good/bad and model/copy, arguing that the binary of good heritage and bad simulacra is flawed because heritage is itself actualized ...
