UAQ4 Levitating Train: Italian Maglev Transportation System

IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine, 2014
This article illustrates the University of L'Aquila model 4 (UAQ4) Italian maglev train, a transportation system with zero motion resistance (except aerodynamic drag) and greatly reduced energy consumption, approaching zero at a low constant speed. The project is the result of more than 40 years of research in the field of nonconventional highspeed ...

Adaptive Fuzzy-Neural-Network Control for Maglev Transportation System

IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, 2008
A magnetic-levitation (maglev) transportation system including levitation and propulsion control is a subject of considerable scientific interest because of highly nonlinear and unstable behaviors. In this paper, the dynamic model of a maglev transportation system including levitated electromagnets and a propulsive linear induction motor (LIM) based on

The superconducting magnet for the Maglev transport system

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1994
Magnetically levitated vehicles (Maglev) using superconducting magnets have been under development in Japan for the past 23 years. The superconducting magnets for the Maglev system are used in a special environment compared to other applications. They have to work stably subject to both mechanical and electromagnetic disturbances.

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF HYBRID MAGLEV MOTOR FOR 6 DOF MAGLEV TRANSPORTER

2021
Energy consumption in systems that operate with the internal battery unit is one of the important factors thatdirectly affect the active working time, which is directly related to the mass of system. Considering the accelerationcharacteristic, minimizing the mass is at the top of the goals to be sought in terms of performance and efficiency insystem ...

The high speed Maglev transport system TRANSRAPID

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1988
The TRANSRAPID 06 II (TR06 II) vehicle prototype of the Transrapid application system is characterized by noncontacting electromagnetic support and guidance technology and a synchronous iron-cored long-stator motor for propulsion. A brief overview is presented of the TR06 II vehicle, linear motor, and guideway. >

Levitation mechanism modelling for maglev transportation system

Journal of Central South University of Technology, 2010
A novel maglev transportation system was proposed for large travel range ultra precision motion. The system consists of a levitation subsystem and a propulsion subsystem. During the propulsion subsystem driving the moving platform along the guideway, the levitation subsystem uses six pairs of electromagnets to steadily suspend the moving platform over ...

New Principles of Maglev and Traction Underlying Transportation

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1991
<div class="htmlview paragraph">There are two well known basic concepts for achieving magnetic levitation of vehicles: one is based on electromagnetic attraction (EMA); and the second method is based on electrodynamic repulsion (EDR). In turn, each of these concepts have at least two variations (<span class="xref">1</span>, <span ...

Design and Analysis of a Maglev Planar Transportation Vehicle

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2008
We describe the driving mechanism of a maglev planar transportation vehicle (MPTV). The levitation mechanism consists of four magnetic wheels and four rotary machines. The combination of the linear induction motor mechanisms enables the vehicle to travel with planar motion. The wheels provide stability without disturbing the planar motion.
