Petrological characteristics and volatile content of magma of the 1979, 1989, and 2014 eruptions of Nakadake, Aso volcano, Japan

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2018
Petrological observations and chemical analyses of melt inclusions in scoria were used to investigate the magma ascent and eruption processes of the 1979, 1989, and 2014 eruptions of Nakadake, Aso volcano, Japan. Major elements and sulfur contents of the

The Boycott effect in magma chambers [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2004
We investigate the plausibility of the stratified Boycott effect as a source of layering in magma chambers. Crystal settling within the magma chamber will generate buoyant fluid near the sloping sidewalls whose vertical ascent may be limited by the ambient stratification associated with vertical gradients in SiO2.

Crustal Magma Storage and Plumbing System Beneath the Tianchi and Wangtian'e Volcanoes, Changbaishan Intraplate Volcanic Field, China and North Korea

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The Changbaishan volcanic field, which includes the Tianchi and Wangtian'e volcanoes in China and the Namphothe volcano in North Korea, is one of the most complex and hazardous volcanic regions on Earth due to its tectonic setting and explosive Holocene activity.

Shallow Magmatic System of Arxan Volcano Revealed by Ambient Noise Tomography with Dense Array

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The Arxan Volcanic Field (AVF) is an active volcanic region in Northeast Asia, and its last eruption occurred approximately 2000 years ago. Its eruption mechanism remains unknown.

Plagioclase as evidence of magmatic evolution in the Zafarqand porphyry copper deposit, NE Isfahan

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2018
Introduction Chemical and textural zoning patterns preserved in plagioclase phenocrysts can provide useful information on parameters that constrains the changing melt compositions in the magma systems.

Deciphering the “Missing Xenon Paradox” in Celestial Bodies: A Multifaceted Perspective Toward Demystifying This Enigma

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Xenon (Xe) is a heavy noble gas with intriguing chemical properties, such as having several stable isotopes and the ability to form compounds under extreme conditions. Despite the predictions based on cosmochemical models that suggest xenon should be relatively abundant in planetary reservoirs, empirical data indicate a significant depletion ...

Numerical Modeling Of Pressure Source Of Sinabung Volcano Based On GPS Data In 2011-2012 Using Particle Swarm Optimization (PS0)

open access: yesComputational and Experimental Research in Materials and Renewable Energy, 2020
Mogi Model with particle swarm optimization (PSO) scheme have been applied to the local GPS data of Sinabung Volcano during 2011 to 2012 to receive subsurface parameters as pressure sources in terms of misfit and inversion model parameter.

The 1723 AD violent Strombolian and phreatomagatic eruption at Irazu volcano (Costa Rica) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The largest of the recorded historic eruptions at Irazú volcano began on February 16, 1723 and lasted until at least December 11. We here critically examine deposits of this eruption exposed on the summit of Irazú. Our reconstruction of the eruption is

Timescale of open-reservoir evolution beneath the south Cleft segment, Juan de Fuca ridge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
International audienceLavas erupted at the southern end of the intermediate Juan de Fuca ridge (Cleft segment) are mostly cogenetic and their chemical diversity results from melt evolution in an open magma system.
