Petrological Constraints on the Thermal History of Magma Storage in the Crust
Understanding the links between magmatic evolution and volcanic eruptions requires knowledge of the physical behavior of magmas stored and transported within Earth's crust. The mobility of magmas is fundamentally tied to their rheology and therefore the temperatures they experience during residence—their thermal history.

The eruption cycle of a volcano is controlled by the subsurface migration and storage of magma. The specific characteristics of the magma migration and spatial distribution of material properties produce a specific deformation signature on the Earth’s ...

Directly tapping crustal magma reveals storage conditions
Abstract The conditions under which magma accumulates and is stored are fundamental to unraveling the processes of crust formation, planetary differentiation, geothermal heat recharge, and volcanic eruptions. Storage pressure and temperature are typically inferred from erupted volcanic products.

Understanding the nature and timescales of magmatic processes is one of the primary goals of modern volcanology, and chemical zoning is an efficient tool to achieve this aim. In basic volcanic rocks, plagioclase is a common phase used for documenting magmatic processes and their timescales.
