Differential response of bacterial diversity and community composition to different tree ages of pomelo under red and paddy soils

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Rhizosphere soil microbial communities substantially impact plant growth by regulating the nutrient cycle. However, dynamic changes in soil microbiota under different tree ages have received little attention.

A Search for Magnesium in Europa's Atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal Letters, 764, L28, 2013, 2013
Europa's tenuous atmosphere results from sputtering of the surface. The trace element composition of its atmosphere is therefore related to the composition of Europa's surface. Magnesium salts are often invoked to explain Galileo Near Infrared Mapping Spectrometer spectra of Europa's surface, thus magnesium may be present in Europa's atmosphere.

Compression Deformation Behavior of AZ81 Magnesium Alloy at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2014
The hot deformation behavior of an AZ81 magnesium alloy was investigated by hot compressive testing on a Gleeble-1500 thermal mechanical simulator in the temperature range from 200 to 400°C and in the strain rate range of 0.001–5 s−1.

Comparison of the Mechanical Properties and Forming Behavior of Two Texture-Weakened Mg-Sheet Alloys Produced by Twin Roll Casting

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2019
The influence of rolling and annealing on the resulting mechanical properties and forming behavior of Mg-Zn-RE and Mg-Zn-Ca alloys produced via twin roll casting is investigated. After hot rolling followed by an annealing treatment, both alloys develop a

Formation of Galactic Systems in Light of the Magnesium Abundance in Field Stars: The Thin Disk [PDF]

open access: yesAstron.Lett. 32 (2006) 376-392, 2006
We analyze the relations between the relative magnesium abundances in stars and their metallicities, Galactic orbital elements, and ages. The relative magnesium abundances in metal-poor ([Fe/H] < -0.4) thin-disk stars have been found to systematically decrease with increasing stellar orbital radii in such a way that magnesium over abundances ([Mg/Fe]>0.

Magnesium and Pain

open access: yesNutrients, 2020
In terms of antinociceptive action, the main mode of action of magnesium involves its antagonist action at the N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, which prevents central sensitization and attenuates preexisting pain hypersensitivity. Given the pivotal function of NMDA receptors in pain transduction, magnesium has been investigated in a variety of ...

Probing the Effect of Alloying Elements on the Interfacial Segregation Behavior and Electronic Properties of Mg/Ti Interface via First-Principles Calculations

open access: yesMolecules
The interface connects the reinforced phase and the matrix of materials, with its microstructure and interfacial configurations directly impacting the overall performance of composites. In this study, utilizing seven atomic layers of Mg(0001) and Ti(0001)

Magnesium-intercalated graphene on SiC: highly n-doped air-stable bilayer graphene at extreme displacement fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We use angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to investigate the electronic structure of bilayer graphene at high n-doping and extreme displacement fields, created by intercalating epitaxial monolayer graphene on silicon carbide with magnesium to form quasi-freestanding bilayer graphene on magnesium-terminated silicon carbide.
