Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Compounds Influencing Magnesium Absorption

open access: yesNutrition & Food Science International Journal
Magnesium (Mg2+) is the fourth most abundant cation in the body and the second most common at the Intracellular Level (IC). In humans, it is involved in the activity of hundreds of enzymes, covering approximately 80% of metabolic functions. Homeostasis is achieved by a balance between ingestion, excretion, and reservoir.

Method of detecting and counting bacteria in body fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
A novel method is reported for determining bacterial levels in urine samples, which method depends on the quantitative determination of bacterial adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in the presence of non-bacterial ATP.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Hetero- and Homoleptic Magnesium Triazenides

open access: yesInorganics, 2017
Using monoanionic triazenide ligands derived from biphenyl and m-terphenyl substituted triazenes Dmp(Tph)N3H (1a), (Me4Ter)2N3H (1b) or Dmp(Mph)N3H (1c) (Dmp = 2,6-Mes2C6H3 with Mes = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2; Me4Ter = 2,6-(3,5-Me2C6H3)2C6H3; Mph = 2-MesC6H4; Tph =

Condensation of MgS in outflows from carbon stars

open access: yes, 2008
The basic mechanism responsible for the widespread condensation of MgS in the outflows from carbon rich stars on the tip of the AGB is discussed with the aim of developing a condensation model that can be applied in model calculations of dust formation ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
