In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

The chemical compositions of the 2 new HgMn stars HD 30085 and HD 30963. Comparison to $χ$ Lupi A, $ν$ Cap and HD 174567 [PDF]
We report on a detailed abundance study of the fairly bright slow rotators HD 30085 (A0 IV), HD 30963 (B9 III) and HD 174567 (A0 V), hitherto reported as normal stars and the sharp-lined chi Lupi A (B9 IV HgMn). In the spectra of HD 30085, HD 30963, the Hg II line at 3984 A line is conspicuous and numerous lines of silicon, manganese, chromium ...

Non-LTE models for the gaseous metal component of circumstellar discs around white dwarfs [PDF]
Gaseous metal discs around single white dwarfs have been discovered recently. They are thought to develop from disrupted planetary bodies. Spectroscopic analyses will allow us to study the composition of extrasolar planetary material. We investigate in detail the first object for which a gas disc was discovered (SDSS J122859.93+104032.9).

This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

Many Americans don’t get enough magnesium in their diets. But most healthy people do not have signs of deficiency even if their intake is low because the body stores this mineral.

Synthesis and Chemical and Biological Evaluation of a Glycine Tripeptide Chelate of Magnesium
Magnesium (Mg2+) plays a crucial role in over 80% of all metabolic functions. It is becoming increasingly apparent that magnesium deficiency (hypomagnesemia) may play an important role in chronic disease.

We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

The role of magnesium in the treatment of symptoms climacteric syndrome
According to epidemiological studies, about 30% of residents in Russia receive less than 70% of the daily magnesium intake, while magnesium deficiency manifests much more often in women than in men.

Faint Population III supernovae as the origin of the most iron-poor stars [PDF]
The most iron-deficient stars in the Milky Way provide important observational constraints on the nature of astrophysical objects that have enriched the primordial gas with heavy elements from which these stars were formed. Among them, the recently discovered iron-deficient star SMSS J031300.36-670839.3 shows a remarkable chemical composition with non ...

Patient‐derived xenografts (PDXs) can be improved by implantation of a humanized niche. We tested different biomaterials and approaches, and demonstrate that the combination of an injectable biomaterial for scaffold creation plus an intravenous route for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) xenotransplantation provide the most convenient and robust approach to
