Crystal growth and characterization of MgB2: Relation between structure and superconducting properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We discuss the important aspects of synthesis and crystal growth of MgB2 under high pressure (P) and temperature (T) in Mg-B-N system, including the optimisation of P-T conditions for reproducible crystal growth, the role of liquid phases in this process, the temperature dependence of crystal size and the effect of growing instabilities on single ...

Comparative study of adenosine 3′‐pyrophosphokinase domains of MuF polymorphic toxins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
With the ultimate goal of understanding the association of toxin‐immunity modules to temperate phages, we characterized toxins from three prophages and examined cross‐protection from immunity proteins. The toxins exhibit adenosine 3′‐pyrophosphokinase activity and are toxic in Escherichia coli.

Effect of Nitrogen Nutritional Stress on some Mineral Nutrients and Photosynthetic Apparatus of Zea mays L. and Vigna unguiculata L.

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae, 2013
The study investigated the responses of maize (Zea mays L.) and cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp.) seedlings metabolic activities and photosynthetic apparatus to nitrogen nutritional stress.

Matrigel inhibits elongation and drives endoderm differentiation in aggregates of mouse embryonic stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Stem cell‐based embryo models (SCBEMs) are valuable to study early developmental milestones. Matrigel, a basement membrane matrix, is a critical substrate used in various SCBEM protocols, but its role in driving stem cell lineage commitment is not clearly defined.

Effect of added magnesium, potassium, lime and nitrogen on oats: II. Nutrient contents, cation ratios and magnesium uptake

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 1977
In a pot experiment on sphagnum peat soil the magnesium fertilization increased significantly the magnesium content of the grains and the straws of oats.

MicroRNA regulatory mechanisms on Citrus sinensis leaves to magnesium-deficiency

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Magnesium (Mg)-deficiency, which affects crop productivity and quality, widespreadly exists in many agricultural crops, including citrus. However, very limited data are available on Mg-deficiency-responsive microRNAs (miRNAs) in higher plants.

The impact of magnesium deficiency on photosynthesis and photoprotection in Spinacia oleracea

open access: yesPlant Stress, 2021
Limited magnesium (Mg) supply adversely affects photosynthesis. This is particularly related to the high demand for Mg of key enzymes in the chloroplast, such as the photosystems, the ATP synthase and ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase ...

PND-Net: Plant Nutrition Deficiency and Disease Classification using Graph Convolutional Network [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, Nature Portfolio, 2024
Crop yield production could be enhanced for agricultural growth if various plant nutrition deficiencies, and diseases are identified and detected at early stages. The deep learning methods have proven its superior performances in the automated detection of plant diseases and nutrition deficiencies from visual symptoms in leaves. This article proposes a

Relationship of cognitive decline with glucocerebrosidase activity and amyloid‐beta 42 in DLB and PD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson's disease (PD) share clinical, pathological, and genetic risk factors, including GBA1 and APOEε4 mutations. Biomarkers associated with the pathways of these mutations, such as glucocerebrosidase enzyme (GCase) activity and amyloid‐beta 42 (Aβ42) levels, may hold potential as predictive ...

Critical Leaf Magnesium Thresholds and the Impact of Magnesium on Plant Growth and Photo-Oxidative Defense: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis From 70 Years of Research

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Magnesium (Mg) deficiency in plants is a widespread problem affecting productivity and quality in agricultural systems and forestry. Although numerous studies addressed the effect of Mg deficiency on biomass and photosynthetic CO2 assimilation, a summary
