The most common symptom of iron (Fe) deficiency in plants is leaf chlorosis caused by impairment of chlorophyll biosynthesis. Magnesium (Mg)-chelatase H subunit (CHLH) is a key component in both chlorophyll biosynthesis and plastid signaling, but its ...

Testing the impact of waste from anaerobic digestion (enriched with an organic component on the quality of agricultural land) [PDF]
Waste from anaerobic digestion is considered as a mineral fertilizer and it is usually applied to agricultural land. The aim of our attempt was to enrich this waste from anaerobic digestion (digestate) with an organic component (in our case represented ...

Quantitative trait loci conferring grain mineral nutrient concentrations in durum wheat 3 wild emmer wheat RIL population [PDF]
Mineral nutrient malnutrition, and particularly deficiency in zinc and iron, afflicts over 3 billion people worldwide. Wild emmer wheat, Triticum turgidum ssp. dicoccoides, genepool harbors a rich allelic repertoire for mineral nutrients in the grain.

Loss of proton‐sensing GPR4 reduces tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
G protein‐coupled receptor 4 (GPR4) is a pH‐sensing receptor activated by acidic pH. GPR4 expression is increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease who are at high risk of developing colorectal cancer. In mouse models, loss of GPR4 attenuated tumor progression. This correlated with increased IL2 and natural killer cell activity.

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

In patients treated with atezolizumab as a part of the MyPathway (NCT02091141) trial, pre‐treatment ctDNA tumor fraction at high levels was associated with poor outcomes (radiographic response, progression‐free survival, and overall survival) but better sensitivity for blood tumor mutational burden (bTMB).

Physiological characterization of Mg deficiency in Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]
Although the symptoms of magnesium deficiency are well documented in plants, the primary physiological effects of low Mg availability remain largely unknown.
