Effect of carbonation curing and sodium content on geopolymer subjected to sodium and magnesium sulfate attack [PDF]

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais
Geopolymer cement stands as an alternative to Portland cement to reduce the impacts associated with its production. This material is also affected by ions that can damage its mechanical properties and reduce its durability.

Expanding Use of Magnesium Sulfate for Treatment of Pre-eclampsia and Eclampsia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Pre-eclampsia/eclampsia is a serious condition that can develop during pregnancy, even in women with no risk factors. Although there is little understanding of what causes pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, there is an effective treatment for this condition which,

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Effects of Potassium Source and Secondary Nutrients on Potato Yield and Quality in Southcentral Alaska. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and sulfur (S) are required for the growth and development of all higher plants. They are commonly referred to as secondary nutrients because they are less often limiting to plant growth than the primary nutrients nitrogen ...

Localized approach to galvanic coupling in an aluminum–magnesium system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The corrosion behavior of a pure aluminum/pure magnesium couple in a weakly conductive sodium sulfate solution was investigated. Potential and current distributions on the surface of the model couple at the beginning of immersion were obtained by solving

Comparative study between intrathecal dexmedetomidine and intrathecal magnesium sulfate for the prevention of post-spinal anaesthesia shivering in uroscopic surgery; (RCT)

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2019
BackgroundHypothermia and shivering are common complications after spinal anaesthesia, especially after uroscopic procedures in which large amounts of cold intraluminal irrigation fluids are used.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Can drying and re-wetting of magnesium sulfate salts lead to damage of stone? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Magnesium sulfate salts have been linked to the decay of stone in the field and in laboratory experiments, but the mechanism of damage is still poorly understood. Thermomechanical analysis shows that expansion of stone contaminated with magnesium sulfate

The effects of MgO, Na2O and SO3 on industrial clinkering process: phase composition, polymorphism, microstructure and hydration, using a multidisciplinary approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Preprint publicado en: Materials Characterization Volume 155, September 2019, 109809The present investigation deals with how minor elements (their oxides: MgO, Na2O and SO3) in industrial kiln feeds affect (i) chemical reactions upon clinkering, (ii ...
