Magnetic particle-based ultrasensitive biosensors for diagnostics
Expert Review of Molecular Diagnostics, 2012The process of sensitive and accurate detection of small quantities of disease biomarkers is critical for the clinical diagnosis of disease. In this regard, magnetic particles (MPs) have been widely used because of their unique magnetic properties allowing for efficient target capture, enrichment and convenient separation.

Magnetic Permeability Measurements in Bioanalysis and Biosensors
Analytical Chemistry, 1996A new transducer concept in bioanalysis and biosensors, utilizing measurements of magnetic permeability, is reported. A model system based on dextran ferrofluid, concanavalin A immobilized to a carrier (Sepharose), and glucose was used to demonstrate the feasibility of this approach. Direct ferromagnetic detection of the dextran ferrofluid was achieved

Magnetic actuated MOEMS resonant biosensor array
2010 International Conference on Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics, 2010A biosensor platform is utilized in liquid for detection of His protein. T-shaped thin film nickel cantilevers are actuated magnetically using self-oscillation principle and the sensing is based on embedded diffraction gratings on the cantilevers with interferometric sensitivity.

Magnetic biosensor technologies for medical applications: a review
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 2010In this review we discuss conventional methods of performing biological assays and molecular identification and highlight their advantages and limitations. An alternative approach based on magnetic nanotechnology is then presented. Firstly, magnetic carriers are introduced and their biocompatibility and functionalisation discussed, with spotlights on ...

CRP determination based on a novel magnetic biosensor
Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2007The c-reactive protein (CRP) is a very significant human blood marker for inflammatory processes and is routinely determined for many clinical purposes. The widespread and well established detection method for this approximately 115 kDa hepatic protein is the high-sensitivity ELISA assay (hsCRP-ELISA) in blood serum.
