Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

Magnetic transport and radiation properties during compression of a magnetized plasma

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
We present a study of magnetic transport and radiation properties during compression of a magnetized laboratory plasma. A theta pinch is used to produce a magnetized plasma column undergoing radial implosion, with plasma parameters comprehensively ...

The Role of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Evaluation of Trigeminal Neuralgia [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Anatomy Radiology and Surgery, 2016
Introducation: Trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by electric shock-like pain, abrupt in onset and brief, in the distribution of one or more divisions of the trigeminal nerve.

Effect of lubrication on the mechanical behavior of magnetorheological elastomers in compression mode

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2022
The effect of the lubrication on the mechanical behavior of magnetorheological elastomers (MREs) in compression mode is experimentally studied. According to ISO 7743, there are two procedures to characterize specimens in compression mode.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Diffusion Tensor Imaging Correlates with Short-Term Myelopathy Outcome in Patients with Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objective To determine if spinal cord diffusion tensor imaging indexes correlate with short-term clinical outcome in patients undergoing elective cervical spine surgery for cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM).

Magnetically Guided Fast Electrons in Cylindrically Compressed Matter [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2011
Fast electrons produced by a 10 ps, 160 J laser pulse through laser-compressed plastic cylinders are studied experimentally and numerically in the context of fast ignition. K(α)-emission images reveal a collimated or scattered electron beam depending on the initial density and the compression timing.

Evidence of Iron Accumulation in Cerebral Adrenoleukodystrophy: A Potential Novel Disease Mechanism

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this first application of Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping Source Separation to cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy, we uncovered alterations in iron and myelin within lesions and normal appearing white matter. As validation, we demonstrate abnormal iron accumulation in those same compartments within primary brain tissue.

Magnetic compression anastomosis for non-anastomotic stenosis of the proximal jejunum after total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y reconstruction: a case report

open access: yesSurgical Case Reports, 2020
Background Postoperative non-anastomotic stenosis of the proximal jejunum after total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y reconstruction is a rare complication. If endoscopic balloon dilation proves ineffective, patients need re-operation under general anesthesia

Adiabatic compression and radiative compression of magnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Flux is conserved during mechanical compression of magnetic fields for both nonrelativistic and relativistic compressors. However, the relativistic compressor generates radiation, which can carry up to twice the energy content of the magnetic field compressed adiabatically. The radiation may be either confined or allowed to escape.
