Magnetic freezing of confined water

We report results from molecular dynamic simulations of the freezing transition of liquid water in the nanoscale hydrophobic confinement under the influence of a homogeneous external magnetic field of 10 T along the direction perpendicular to the parallel plates.

Magnetic Confinement Fusion

Fusion plasmas with reactorlike temperatures have been confined in magnetic-field configurations of the tokamak type. The measured rate of heat leakage from these plasmas is sufficiently small to be compatible with the requirements of a full-sized fusion power reactor.

The spin configuration in a magnet is in general a "natural" consequence of both the intrinsic properties of the material and the sample dimensions. We demonstrate that this limitation can be overcome in a homogeneous ferromagnetic film by engineering an anisotropy contrast. Equilibrium of a Magnetically Confined Plasma in a Toroid

A variety of properties are derived satisfied by any static equilibrium of a plasma governed by the well-known magnetostatic equations. Some of these are local and quite trivial. Others involve integrals over surfaces of constant pressure, which are shown to be topologically toroidal under fairly general assumptions.

ELECTRIC‐MAGNETIC CONFINEMENT

The theoretical plasma confinement times for an electromagnetic trap, which is an electrostatically plugged magnetic cusp device, are calculated. The plasma may be produced by electron beam injection or by other methods. Electron losses along field lines are inhibited by negative electrodes (cathodes) placed at the cusp openings.
