Spectroscopy of snake states using a graphene Hall bar
An approach to observe snake states in a graphene Hall bar containing a pn-junction is proposed. The magnetic field dependence of the bend resistance in a ballistic graphene Hall bar structure containing a tilted pn-junction oscillates as a function of ...

An intra-shot tool for ramp-up optimization with experiments on MAST-U
The interest in fast and robust scenario design tools is increasing more and more in view of the operation of future large tokamaks like ITER. In fact, an efficient design procedure can reduce costs and risks, and, in particular, a well designed ramp-up ...

External Field-Controlled Ablation: Magnetic Fields [PDF]
Laser ablation of silicon under an external applied magnetic field with different orientations was investigated in respect to the scanning direction and polarisation of the laser beam, by observation of the ablation patterns and debris deposition. Ultra-short ∼230 fs laser pulses of 1030 nm wavelengths were used in the single and multi-pulse ...

Controllable magnetic domains in twisted trilayer magnets
The use of moiré patterns to manipulate two-dimensional materials has facilitated new possibilities for controlling material properties. The moiré patterns in the two-dimensional magnets can cause peculiar spin texture, as shown by previous studies focused on twisted bilayer systems.

Controlling Grain Boundaries by Magnetic Fields [PDF]
The ability to use external magnetic fields to influence the microstructure in polycrystalline materials has potential applications in microstructural engineering. To explore this potential and to understand the complex interactions between electromagnetic fields and solid-state matter transport we consider a phase-field-crystal (PFC) model.

Magneto-ionic control of interfacial magnetism [PDF]
In metal/oxide heterostructures, rich chemical, electronic, magnetic and mechanical properties can emerge from interfacial chemistry and structure. The possibility to dynamically control interface characteristics with an electric field paves the way towards voltage control of these properties in solid-state devices.
