Magnetically coupled balance platform

Journal of Medical Engineering & Technology, 2004
The purpose of this study was to develop a new device to assess balance in two planes and then to provide training paradigms for balance abnormalities. Based on the principal of a Biomechanical Ankle Platform System (BAPS) board, the device is different than other devices that are on the market today in that this device allows assessment of balance ...

Magnetically Coupled Linear Isolator

1997 IEEE International Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG'97), 1997
A linear isolation device has been fabricated using giant magnetoresistance (GMR) thin film structures to sense current in a planar coil across a Si/sub 3/N/sub 4/ insulation barrier. NiFe shields are electroplated to improve signal and shield stray field noise.

Magnetically coupled magnet–spring oscillators

European Journal of Physics, 2010
A system of two magnets hung from two vertical springs and oscillating in the hollows of a pair of coils connected in series is a new, interesting and useful example of coupled oscillators. The electromagnetically coupled oscillations of these oscillators are experimentally and theoretically studied.

Magnetic Stripe Domains in Coupled Magnetic Sandwiches

Physical Review Letters, 2004
Magnetic stripe domains in the spin reorientation transition region are investigated in (Fe/Ni)/Cu(001) and Co/Cu/(Fe/Ni)/Cu(001) using photoemission electron microscopy. For (Fe/Ni)/Cu(001), the stripe domain width decreases exponentially as the Fe/Ni film approaches the spin reorientation transition point.

Magnetically Coupled Microcalorimeters

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2012
Magnetic calorimeters have been under development for over 20 years targeting a wide variety of different applications that require very high resolution spectroscopy. They have a number of properties that distinguish them from other low temperature detectors.

Magnetically coupled rotors

American Journal of Physics, 2006
A system with intriguing oscillatory behavior is created using small magnets fixed to the edges of parallel rotating structures. Under certain conditions a system of two rotors will exchange velocities repeatedly in a manner similar to many coupled-oscillator systems, but without oscillations in their position.

Magnetic drive couplings

9th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Drives, 1999
Eddy current couplings using embedded magnet excitation are now commercially available offering key benefits in applications such as large pumps, compressors and conveyors. The paper describes a linear field model based upon 'layer theory' that has been used to assist in the development and optimisation of a range of eddy current couplings.
