Iron‐based metallic glass alloys exhibit excellent soft‐magnetic properties, and unprecedented geometrical freedom in the design of soft‐magnetic metallic glass components is made possible by additive manufacturing. An efficient workflow for developing parameters for laser‐based powder bed fusion of a Fe‐based metallic glass alloy is presented along ...

Magnetoresistance of Granular Ferromagnets - Observation of a Magnetic Proximity Effect?
We have observed a superparamagnetic to ferromagnetic transition in films of isolated Ni grains covered by non-magnetic overlayers. The magnetoresistance (MR) of the films was measured as a function of the overlayer thickness.

Magnetization dynamics in magnetically coupled heterostructures [PDF]
This thesis focusses on the influence of interlayer coupling on the magnetization dynamics of heterostructure systems. This topic has been investigated by time-resolved photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM) using a pump-probe approach. Magnetic and chemical contrast is provided by the llumination with circularly polarized x-rays due to the x-ray ...

Can Ti‐Based MXenes Serve as Solid Lubricants for Brake Applications? A Tribological Study
This study explores the first implementation of Ti‐based MXenes materials in brake pad friction composite material. The resulting composite material exhibits a 48% reduction in the wear rate; alongside significant improvements are observed for thermal and mechanical properties.

Development and Application of a Gyro Steady-State Drilling Tool
Due to the formation heterogeneity, unsteady pump rate, high weight on bit and fast rotation, drill strings are associated with multiple kinds of vibration.Severe vibration accelerates the bit failure, increases the tripping operations, and thus impacts the ...

Controllable exchange coupling between two singlet-triplet qubits
We study controllable exchange coupling between two singlet-triplet qubits. We start from the original second quantized Hamiltonian of a quadruple quantum dot system and obtain the effective spin-spin interaction between the two qubits using the ...

Magnetically Coupled Impedance-Source Inverters
Z-source inverters are a new class of inverters proposed with output voltage or current buck-boost ability. Despite their general attractiveness, there are some present limitations faced by existing Z-source inverters, most of which are linked to their requirement for low modulation ratio at high input-to-output gain and the presence of an impedance ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation
