Magnetic Declination in Mediaeval China

Nature, 1967
THE traditional view that Christopher Columbus discovered magnetic declination on his first voyage to the West Indies in 1492 was put forward with great force by Bertelli1 towards the end of the last century and has been repeated by many since. On the other hand, Crichton Mitchell2, after having examined the evidence on which this claim was based ...

FDTD Analysis of Magnetized Plasma with Arbitrary Magnetic Declination

Journal of Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves, 2007
In this paper, the frequency-dependent finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method employing the piecewise linear recursive convolution (PLRC) scheme is applied to the numerical analysis of magnetized plasma with arbitrary magnetic declination. The PLRC-FDTD equations are derived in detail and are checked through practical examples. Excellent agreement

Vehicle detection based on magnetic declination

2008 27th Chinese Control Conference, 2008
Geomagnetic vehicle detector (GVD) is a kind of traffic monitoring equipment based on the effect that passing vehicles disturb the geomagnetic field. Having the advantages of small size, easy installation and slight damage on the road surface, GVD is to be an attractive alternative to inductive loops.
