A Vorticity-Magnetic Field Dynamo Instability [PDF]

open access: yes(1997) ApJ, 489, L95, 1997
We generalize the mean field magnetic dynamo to include local evolution of the mean vorticity in addition to the mean magnetic field. The coupled equations exhibit a general mean field dynamo instability that enables the transfer of turbulent energy to the magnetic field and vorticity on larger scales.

Magneto-sensitive elastomers in a homogeneous magnetic field: a regular rectangular lattice model

open access: yes, 2011
A theory of mechanical behaviour of the magneto-sensitive elastomers is developed in the framework of a linear elasticity approach. Using a regular rectangular lattice model, different spatial distributions of magnetic particles within a polymer matrix ...

The accumulation of myeloid‐derived suppressor cells participates in abdominal infection‐induced tumor progression through the PD‐L1/PD‐1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores how sepsis affects GC progression by creating an immunosuppressive environment. Our findings reveal that sepsis promotes immune dysregulation, enhancing tumor growth and metastasis. Targeting the PD‐1/PD‐L1 pathway with monoclonal antibodies shows potential for restoring immune function and improving outcomes in cancer patients ...

Magnetic translations for a spatially periodic magnetic field

open access: yes, 1999
It is shown that in the case of free electron in a spatially periodic magnetic field the concept of magnetic translations operators is still valid and, moreover, these operators can be defined in the same way as for a Bloch electron in a uniform magnetic

Respiratory complex I‐mediated NAD+ regeneration regulates cancer cell proliferation through the transcriptional and translational control of p21Cip1 expression by SIRT3 and SIRT7

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

Digital Light Processing of 2D Lattice Composites for Tunable Self‐Sensing and Mechanical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
The study presents the mechanical and in situ sensing performance of digital light processing‐enabled 2D lattice nanocomposites under monotonic tensile and repeated cyclic loading, and provides guidelines for the design of architectures suitable for strain sensors and smart lightweight structures.

Magnetic field effects on plant growth, development, and evolution

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2014
The geomagnetic field (GMF) is a natural component of our environment. Plants, which are known to sense different wavelengths of light, respond to gravity, react to touch and electrical signaling, cannot escape the effect of GMF.

Enhanced Effects of Intermittent Fasting by Magnetic Fields in Severe Diabetes

open access: yesResearch
Intermittent fasting (IF) is a convenient dietary intervention for multiple diseases, including type 2 diabetes. However, whether it can be used as a long-term antidiabetic approach is still unknown.
