Origin of the enhanced Nb3Sn performance by combined Hf and Ta doping
In recent years there has been an increasing effort in improving the performance of Nb3Sn for high-field applications, in particular for the fabrication of conductors suitable for the realization of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) at CERN.

This review provides an introduction to the generation and evolution of the Sun's magnetic field, summarising both observational evidence and theoretical models. The eleven year solar cycle, which is well known from a variety of observed quantities, strongly supports the idea of a large-scale solar dynamo.

The Magnetic Fields of Pulsars [PDF]
Two generation mechanisms of magnetic fields in pulsars are considered. If the temperature of a star is more than 108K, the star consists of a normal fluid of neutrons, protons and electrons. Because the angular velocity of pulsars is not constant dω/dt ≠0, inertia effects can occur, and generate magnetic fields through the relative motion of charged ...

Pair density wave at high magnetic fields in cuprates with charge and spin orders
Among the exotic phases in underdoped cuprates, the evidence of a pair density wave (PDW) remains inconclusive. Here, Shi et al. report transport signatures consistent with the presence of PDW pairing correlations that compete with uniform ...

Unfolding the physics of URu2Si2 through silicon to phosphorus substitution
The heavy fermion compound URu2Si2displays a hidden order phase and superconductivity at low temperatures. Here, the authors perform substitution studies—partially replacing silicon with phosphorus—and study the effects on hidden order and ...

NMR and Patch-Clamp Characterization of Yeast Mitochondrial Pyruvate Carrier Complexes
The mitochondrial pyruvate carrier (Mpc) plays an indispensable role in the transport of pyruvates across the mitochondrial inner membrane. Despite the two distinct homologous proteins, Mpc1 and Mpc2, were identified in 2012, there are still ...

The manuscript presents a trajectory method for describing the rotations of surface crystals such as fullerenes, nanotubes, and nanotori. This method does not require the implementation of successive rotations of the considered molecular structures around the axes of the selected basis.

Magnetic-field-dependent photodynamics of single NV defects in diamond: Application to qualitative all-optical magnetic imaging [PDF]
Magnetometry and magnetic imaging with nitrogen-vacancy (NV) defects in diamond rely on the optical detection of electron spin resonance (ESR). However, this technique is inherently limited to magnetic fields that are weak enough to avoid electron spin ...
