Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1988
AbstractHomogeneous radiofrequency magnetic fields are necessary for production of high‐quality magnetic images and for most forms of magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It is often convenient to map the radiofrequency homogeneity associated with a resonant device by measuring the magnetic image intensity of an aqueous phantom placed within the resonator.

Soviet Physics Uspekhi, 1960
Investigations and published data on strong magnetic fields and their applications are reviewed. Various means for creating strong magnetic fields with iron-core electromagn ets, with non-ferrous constant electromagnets, and the means for producing and measuring pulsed magnetic fields are discussed. 127 references. (R.V.J.)

Interplanetary Magnetic Fields
Science, 1962Preliminary analysis of Mariner II magnetometer data indicates a persistent interplanetary field varying between a least 2 and 10 gamma (1γ = 10 -5 gauss). The interplanetary field appears to lie mainly in the ecliptic plane, although there is a substantial, fluctuating, transverse component.

Abstract After a summary of the observations of cosmic magnetic fields, I briefly discuss the status of dynamos, the use of electric circuits, the physics of magnetic explosions, the role of magnetic tension and our strongest magnet known, the radio pulsar. Finally I mention a few problem areas which may show a breakthrough in the near future.

The study of magnetism and magnetic fields readily follows the study of electricity and is normally a second-semester topic in a first-year physics course. One of the difficulties that a teacher may encounter is that students often confuse magnetic poles with electric charges.
