An Extension of the Vector-Play Model to the Case of Magneto-Elastic Loadings
Accurate modeling of the coupling between mechanical and magnetic behavior is a key challenge for designing many electromagnetic devices. The requirements for such modeling are notably the ability to consider multiaxial configurations, thermodynamic ...

Multiwavelength Magnetic Field Modeling [PDF]
AbstractWe model the large-scale Galactic magnetic fields, including a spiral arm compression to generate anisotropic turbulence, by comparing polarized synchrotron and thermal dust emission. Preliminary results show that in the outer Galaxy, the dust emission comes from regions where the fields are more ordered than average while the situation is ...

Localized magnetic field in the O(N) model [PDF]
Abstract We consider the critical O(N) model in the presence of an external magnetic field localized in space. This setup can potentially be realized in quantum simulators and in some liquid mixtures. The external field can be understood as a relevant perturbation of the trivial line defect, and thus triggers a defect ...

Modelling stellar coronal magnetic fields [PDF]
AbstractOur understanding of the structure and dynamics of stellar coronae has changed dramatically with the availability of surface maps of both star spots and also magnetic field vectors. Magnetic field extrapolations from these surface maps reveal surprising coronal structures for stars whose masses and hence internal structures and dynamo modes may

Constraining regular and turbulent magnetic field strengths in M51 via Faraday depolarization [PDF]
We employ an analytical model that incorporates both wavelength-dependent and wavelength-independent depolarization to describe radio polarimetric observations of polarization at $\lambda \lambda \lambda \, 3.5, 6.2, 20.5$ cm in M51 (NGC 5194).

3D Radio and X-Ray Modeling and Data Analysis Software: Revealing Flare Complexity [PDF]
We have undertaken a major enhancement of our IDL-based simulation tools developed earlier for modeling microwave and X-ray emission. The object-based architecture provides an interactive graphical user interface that allows the user to import ...

Modeling magnetic fields using Gaussian processes
Starting from the electromagnetic theory, we derive a Bayesian non-parametric model allowing for joint estimation of the magnetic field and the magnetic sources in complex environments. The model is a Gaussian process which exploits the divergence- and curl-free properties of the magnetic field by combining well-known model components in a novel manner.

Progress in the modeling of Earth and planetary internal magnetic fields
A majority of the planets in the Solar System are characterized by intrinsic magnetic fields that co-rotate with these celestial bodies. With ongoing advances in human deep-space exploration, magnetic field models have been established for all known ...
