Magnetic-flux pump [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
A magnetic flux pump is described for increasing the intensity of a magnetic field by transferring flux from one location to the magnetic field. The device includes a pair of communicating cavities formed in a block of superconducting material, and a ...

Color-magnetic flux tubes in quark matter cores of neutron stars

open access: yes, 2010
We argue that if color-superconducting quark matter exists in the core of a neutron star, it may contain a high density of flux tubes, carrying flux that is mostly color-magnetic, with a small admixture of ordinary magnetic flux.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Polar Field Reversal Observations with Hinode

open access: yes, 2012
We have been monitoring yearly variation in the Sun's polar magnetic fields with the Solar Optical Telescope aboard {\it Hinode} to record their evolution and expected reversal near the solar maximum.

Vortex creep and critical current densities in superconducting (Ba,K)Fe$_{2}$As$_{2}$ single crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The surprisingly rapid relaxation of the sustainable current density in the critical state of single crystalline Ba$_{1-x}$K$_{x}$Fe$_{2}$As$_{2}$ is investigated for magnetic fields oriented parallel to the c-axis and to the $ab$--plane respectively ...

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Feasibility Study of Stress Measurement in Prestressing Tendons Using Villari Effect and Induced Magnetic Field

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2013
This paper investigates experimentally the feasibility of estimating the stress in the prestressing tendons of prestressed concrete bridges using the magnetic field induced by an electromagnet and the Villari effect in which the magnetic susceptibility ...

Influence of Permanent Magnetic Properties on Laser-Assisted Heating Magnetization for Magnetic MEMS

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
When magnetic microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) devices utilize thin- or thick-film permanent magnets, the uniform magnetization of these magnets, owing to their flat-shape, generate a strong antimagnetic field and weak surface magnetic flux density.

Measuring the magnetic flux density with the flux loops and hall probes in the CMS magnet flux return yoke [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium, Medical Imaging Conference and Room-Temperature Semiconductor Detector Workshop (NSS/MIC/RTSD), 2016
The direct measurements of the magnetic flux density in steel blocks within Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) magnet yoke are performed with 22 flux loops installed in selected regions of the yoke. The 10,000-ton CMS magnet flux return yoke encloses a 4 T superconducting solenoid with a 6-m-diameter by 12.5-m-length free bore and consists of five dodecagonal

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
