Magnetic and Conductive Liquid Metal Gels

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2020
Liquid metals are fast becoming a new class of universal and frictionless additives for the development of multifunctional soft and flexible materials. Herein, nanodroplets of eutectic gallium-indium alloy, which is liquid at room temperature, were used as a platform for the formulation of electrically conductive and magnetically responsive gels with ...

Macroscopic dynamics of uniaxial magnetic gels

Physical Review E, 2004
We present the derivation of the macroscopic equations for uniaxial ferrogels. In addition to the usual hydrodynamic variables for gels we introduce the magnetization and the relative rotations between the magnetization and the network as macroscopic variables. The relative rotations introduced here for a system with magnetic degrees of freedom are the

Polymer architecture of magnetic gels: a review

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2018
Abstract In this review article, we provide an introduction to ferrogels, i.e. polymeric gels with embedded magnetic particles. Due to the interplay between magnetic and elastic properties of these materials, they are promising candidates for engineering and biomedical applications such as actuation and controlled drug release ...

Magnetic applications of polymer gels

Macromolecular Symposia, 2001
In this paper we report results of both, material preparation and magnetic characterisation, on CoFe 2 O 4 particles of nanometric size formed by in-situ precipitation within polymer gels. The size of the particles was controlled within a very narrow volume distribution and its average value was shifted from 2 to 10 nm.

Sol-gel magnetic materials

Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Conference, 2002
Sol-gel technologies have taken the experimenter and turned his or her world into a fantasy world of size control, materials properties, and new materials hard to realize by other more arduous methods. The importance of size and crystallite perfection with respect to properties of finished devices has been shown to be one of many critical parameters ...
