Histone H3 phospho-regulation by KimH3 in both interphase and mitosis

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: Histone H3 is phosphorylated at Ser10 by multiple kinases, and many of them are anti-cancer targets. Here, we report the first kinase that can phosphorylate H3Ser10 in both interphase and mitosis, which we named KimH3 (kinase of interphase and ...

Hysteresis Relation between Turbulence and Temperature Modulation during the Heat Pulse Propagation into a Magnetic Island in DIII-D.

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2018
The hysteresis relation between turbulence and temperature modulation during the heat pulse propagation into a magnetic island is studied for the first time in toroidal plasmas.

Magnetic-island formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
The response of a finite conductivity plasma to resonant magnetic perturbations is studied. The equations, which are derived for the time development of magnetic islands, help one interpret the singular currents which occur under the assumption of perfect plasma conductivity. The relation to the Rutherford regime of resistive instabilities is given.

A Static Magnetic Field Improves Iron Metabolism and Prevents High-Fat-Diet/Streptozocin-Induced Diabetes

open access: yesThe Innovation, 2021
Summary: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a metabolic disorder with high prevalence and severe complications that has recently been indicated to be treatable by a combined static magnetic field (SMF) and electric field.

An Unusual Energetic Particle Flux Enhancement Associated with Solar Wind Magnetic Island Dynamics

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2018
The possibility that charged particles are accelerated statistically in a “sea” of small-scale interacting magnetic flux ropes in the supersonic solar wind is gaining credence. In this Letter, we extend the Zank et al.

MAGNETIC-ISLAND CONTRACTION AND PARTICLE ACCELERATION IN SIMULATED ERUPTIVE SOLAR FLARES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The mechanism that accelerates particles to the energies required to produce the observed high-energy impulsive emission in solar flares is not well understood. Drake et al.

Geometry of the Magma Chamber and Curie Point Depth Beneath Hawaii Island: Inferences From Magnetic and Gravity Data

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
This study used land gravity and airborne magnetic data to investigate the depth to the magmatic chamber and map the heat flow distribution beneath the active volcanoes of Hawaii Island using the Curie point depth (CPD) and gravity modeling.

Filamentous morphology engineering of bacteria by iron metabolism modulation through MagR expression

open access: yesSynthetic and Systems Biotechnology
The morphology is the consequence of evolution and adaptation. Escherichia coli is rod-shaped bacillus with regular dimension of about 1.5 μm long and 0.5 μm wide.

Study of magnetic reconnection in large-scale magnetic island coalescence via spatially coupled MHD and PIC simulations

open access: yesPhysics of Plasmas, 2018
We study the process of magnetic reconnection in a coalescing magnetic island setup by means of numerical simulation. This process mimics flux tube merging which can take place in the solar corona, laboratory, and astrophysical objects.
