Nonlinear Robust Control of a Magnetic Levitation System
First International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control - Volume I (ICICIC'06), 2006This paper deals with the design of a nonlinear robust control scheme for a magnetic levitation system. We define a new switching function to form a variable structure feedback control in order to help improve tracking performance of the system. We practically implemented the controller in an experimental magnetic levitation system and investigated its

Superconducting bulk magnets for magnetic levitation systems
Physica C: Superconductivity, 2000Abstract The major applications of high-temperature superconductors have mostly been confined to products in the form of wires and thin films. However, recent developments show that rare-earth REBa2Cu3O7−x and light rare-earth LREBa2Cu3O7−x superconductors prepared by melt processes have a high critical-current density at 77 K and high magnetic ...

Modeling and nonlinear control of magnetic levitation systems
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2001In this paper, the authors propose a nonlinear model for magnetic levitation systems which is validated with experimental measurements. Using this model, a nonlinear control law based on differential geometry is firstly synthesized. Then, its real-time implementation is developed.

Implementation and model verification of a magnetic levitation system
Proceedings of the 2005, American Control Conference, 2005., 2005This paper presents the implementation of a two degree-of-freedom magnetic levitation system employing one permanent magnet linear synchronous motor, and the experimental validation of a mathematical model previously derived. The paper focuses on showing the development of a calibration procedure to estimate model parameters and its subsequent use for ...

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2007
In the conventional conveyance system, noise, friction and vibration occur under operation. We have developed the hybrid magnetically levitated system. In this system, pinning force of high temperature bulk super conductor is used for the levitation and guidance. This system needs no control system for levitation and guidance.

Model predictive controllers for magnetic levitation systems
2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics, 2015The paper presents the design and the implementation of two model predictive controllers (MPCs) for magnetic levitation systems. The presentation is focused on the position control of a sphere in a magnetic levitation system with two electromagnets laboratory equipment in order to test the proposed controllers.

Variable structure control of a magnetic levitation system
Proceedings of the 2001 American Control Conference. (Cat. No.01CH37148), 2001Presents a variable structure control (VSC) design procedure for robust stabilization and disturbance rejection of a magnetic levitation system. The procedure is based on a method called the reaching law method complemented by a sliding mode equivalence technique.

Magnetic Levitation System by Reluctance Control: Levitation by Motion Control of Permanent Magnet
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 1994A new type of active magnetic levitation system is proposed. In this system, the forces of permanent magnets are used for levitation and controlled by adjusting the reluctance of the magnetic circuit. Using permanent magnets, the feature of this system is effective for saving energy and avoiding heat generation.
