Magnetic properties of Fe/Ni multilayers grown on mylar

open access: yes, 1992
Ni200/Fe16 (angstrom) multilayers were prepared by thermal evaporation in high vacuum onto mylar substrates at room temperature (RT). CEMS spectra at RT show the coexistence of several magnetic phases and out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy of the iron ...

Composition, morphology and electrical transport properties of Co-Pb electrodeposits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Bath compositions were elaborated for the codeposition of Co and Pb by taking into account the chemical compatibility of Co2+ and Pb2+ with the appropriate anions.

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

SiO2/Ta interface reaction in magnetic multilayers and its influence on Ta buffer layers

open access: yes, 2002
Ta is often used as a buffer layer in magnetic multilayers. In this study, Ta/Ni81Fe19/Ta multilayers were deposited by magnetron sputtering on sing-crystal Si with a 300-nm-thick SiO2 film.

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.

Incommensurate superlattice modulation surviving down to an atomic scale in sputter-deposited Co/Pt(111) epitaxial multilayered films

open access: yesAPL Materials
We report the structural feature of sputter-deposited epitaxial [Co (0.2 nm)/Pt (0.2–1.0 nm)] multilayered films prepared with various periodic structural designs consisting of non-integer numbers of Co and Pt monoatomic layers on an atomically flat Ru ...

Electromagnetic Scattering of Rough Ground Surface Covered by Multilayers Vegetation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2019
A microwave scattering model is proposed for the ground surface covered with multilayers vegetation. The vegetation leaves are simulated with the discrete elliptical particles in layers, which are randomly distributed above the randomly rough surface ...

Magnetic metallic multilayers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Utilizing self-consistent Hartree-Fock calculations, several aspects of multilayers and interfaces are explored: enhancement and reduction of the local magnetic moments, magnetic coupling at the interfaces, magnetic arrangements within each film and among non-neighboring films, global symmetry of the systems, frustration, orientation of the various ...
