Role of Ionic Liquids in Composites in Analytical Sample Preparation

open access: yesSeparations, 2020
Ionic liquids (ILs) are a group of non-conventional salts with melting points below 100 °C. Apart from their negligible vapor pressure at room temperature, high thermal stability, and impressive solvation properties, ILs are characterized by their ...

Movements of Magnetite-Encapsulated Graphene Particles at Air–Water Interface and Their Cell Growths under Dynamic Magnetic Field

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
The motion of magnetic particles under magnetic fields is an object to be solved in association with basic and practical phenomena. Movement phenomena of magnetite-encapsulated graphene particles at air–water interfaces were evaluated by manufacturing a ...

Galactic cosmic rays on extrasolar Earth-like planets I. Cosmic ray flux

open access: yes, 2015
(abridged abstract) Theoretical arguments indicate that close-in terrestial exoplanets may have weak magnetic fields, especially in the case of planets more massive than Earth (super-Earths).

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

Collisions and dynamics of particles with magnetic dipole moment and electric charge near magnetized rotating Kerr black holes

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
Analysis of test magnetized and charged particles around black holes immersed in external magnetic fields may help to explain the observed astrophysical phenomena related to black holes, such as the acceleration of particles up to high energies.

Quasi-two-dimensional Brownian dynamics simulations on the aggregation phenomena of a cubic magnetic particle suspension in a rotating magnetic field

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2021
In the present study, we have addressed a suspension composed of magnetic cubic particles in a rotating magnetic field by means of quasi-two-dimensional Brownian dynamics simulations in order to investigate the dependence of the regime change on a ...

Fibrinogen Changes Before and After Intravenous Thrombolysis as Predictors of Cerebral Injury and Clinical Outcomes in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma fibrinogen is essential in thrombosis and fibrinolysis, yet its dynamic changes pre‐ and post‐intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) for predicting brain injury severity and prognosis in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients remain unclear.
