The multi-modality cardiac imaging approach to the Athlete's heart: an expert consensus of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The term 'athlete's heart' refers to a clinical picture characterized by a slow heart rate and enlargement of the heart. A multi-modality imaging approach to the athlete's heart aims to differentiate physiological changes due to intensive training in the

Time-efficient simultaneous fat and water cardiac cine imaging using spiral magnetic resonance imaging

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance
: Background: Cardiac cine imaging is routinely used in patient with suspected or known cardiac dysfunction. Water and fat (W/F) separated cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) will be helpful to distinguish adipose tissue, blood, and myocardium ...

Evaluation of Aortic Regurgitation Using Cine Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

open access: yesJapanese Heart Journal, 1993
Cine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was used to assess aortic regurgitation (AR) in 13 patients with valvular disease and 3 normal subjects, and the results were compared to color Doppler flow mapping findings. AR produced a signal void in the left ventricle during the diastolic phase in all patients by MRI.

Role of Cine-Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Assessment of Mediastinal Masses with Uncertain/Equivocal Findings from Pre-Operative Computed Tomography Scanning

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background: Malignant neoplasms originating from or involving the mediastinum represent a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge when they are in contact with nearby cardiovascular structures.

Evaluation of Cardiac Motion and Function by Cine Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

open access: yesJapanese Circulation Journal, 1992
Cardiac cine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was studied to evaluated the cardiac motion and function, and a water-stream phantom study was performed to clarify whether it was possible to quantitatively assess the valvular regurgitation flow by the size of the flow void.

3T MRI evaluation of regional catecholamine-producing tumor-induced myocardial injury

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2019
Objective: Regional differences in cardiac magnetic resonance, which can reveal catecholamine-induced myocardial injury in patients with pheochromocytoma, have not yet been assessed using 3T magnetic resonance imaging.

Translational Insights Into Myocardial Deformation and Fibrosis in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Using Diffusion Tensor MRI

open access: yesJACC: Advances
Background: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) diagnosis often occurs after myocardium thickening develops, delaying intervention. Cardiac diffusion tensor imaging (cDTI) detects microstructural myocardial remodeling, offering potential for improved risk ...

Clinical experience with adaptive MRI-guided pancreatic SBRT and the use of abdominal compression to reduce treatment volume

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
IntroductionThis work presents a method to treat stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for pancreatic cancer on a magnetic resonance-guided linear accelerator (MR-linac) using daily adaptation, real-time motion monitoring, and abdominal compression ...

Influence of longitudinal position on the evolution of steady-state signal in cardiac cine balanced steady-state free precession imaging

open access: yesActa Radiologica Open, 2017
Background Emerging quantitative cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) techniques use cine balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP) to measure myocardial signal intensity and probe underlying physiological parameters.

Measurement of fasted state gastric antral motility before and after a standard bioavailability and bioequivalence 240 mL drink of water: Validation of MRI method against concomitant perfused manometry in healthy participants.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
ObjectiveThe gastrointestinal environment in which drug products need to disintegrate before the drug can dissolve and be absorbed has not been studied in detail due to limitations, especially invasiveness of existing techniques.
