2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Syntheses and corrosion behaviors of Fe-based amorphous soft magnetic alloys with high-saturation magnetization near 1.7 T

open access: yes, 2015
Some Fe-rich amorphous alloys of Fe-B-P-Si and Fe-B-P-Si-C systems were found to exhibit simultaneously good soft magnetic properties with high-saturation magnetization values near 1.7 T, which are higher than those for previously reported Fe-based ...

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Design, fabrication, and characterization of magnetic nanostructures

open access: yes, 2008
For several years, thin films of ferromagnetic materials with metallic spacer layers showing giant magnetoresistance (GMR) were the technological basis used in the read-heads of hard disk drives. Similarly, tunnelling magnetoresistance (TMR), which is an

Extended FOC for High-Performance SPMSMs in EVs Incorporating Flux Linkage Vector Decomposition and Nonlinear Dependencies: Experimental Evaluation and Performance Enhancement

open access: yesEnergies
Surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs) are widely used in high-performance electric vehicles due to their power density; however, conventional field-oriented control (FOC) relies on simplified models in which electromagnetic torque ...

Evidence for Itinerant Ferromagnetic Flat Bands Producing Large Transverse Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Itinerant ferromagnetic flat bands are demonstrated in GdCo5 with a high Curie temperature of 940K, a stacked honeycomb–kagome lattice, through angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy and magneto‐thermoelectric measurements. These topological flat bands generate large Berry curvaturte, producing gigantic anomalous Nernst effect with record‐high ...

LEAD: Literature Enhanced Ab Initio Discovery of Nitride Dusting Layers for Enhanced Tunnel Magnetoresistance and Lower Resistance Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

Cio-cio-san no Yūutsu: memoirs of magnetogenesis and Turbulent Dynamo Theory

open access: yes, 2013
The origins of cosmic magnetic fields are not as yet well understood. In this dissertation we investigate, via direct numerical simulation, the temporal evolution and behaviour of magnetic fields that are generated from absolute zero initial conditions ...
