Giant solid-state barocaloric effect in the Ni-Mn-In magnetic shape-memory alloy.
The search for materials showing large caloric effects close to room temperature has become a challenge in modern materials physics and it is expected that such a class of materials will provide a way to renew present cooling devices that are based on ...

Omnipolar Magnetic Field Detection by Superlattice‐Based Hall Sensor
Magnetic‐field‐induced electronic switching is demonstrated in unit‐cell‐engineered La0.7Sr0.3MnO3–BiFeO3 superlattices. Distinct substrate terminations modify magnetic and transport properties. Hall resistance measurements show omnipolar, hysteretic anomalous Hall switching above the Curie temperature, arising from Fe─Mn interfacial exchange, enabling

A three‐dimensional phenomenological model for Magnetic Shape Memory Alloys
AbstractWe present a three‐dimensional thermodynamically‐consistent phenomenological model for the magneto‐mechanical behavior of magnetic shape memory materials featuring a cubic‐totetragonal martensitic transformation. Existence of energetic solutions for both the constitutive relation problem and the three‐dimensional quasi‐static evolution problem ...

Observation of phasons in the magnetic shape memory alloy Ni 2 MnGa [PDF]
An inelastic neutron scattering study of the lattice dynamics of the martensite phase of the ferromagnetic shape memory alloy, Ni2MnGa, reveals the presence of well-defined phasons associated with the charge density wave (CDW) resulting from Fermi surface (FS) nesting.
