Water purification with magnetic particles
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 1991CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) has for some years carried out research into more efficient ways of purifying water and wastewater. More intensive processing has been achieved by the use of finely divided solid reagents which can be regenerated and reused.

Magnetization of single magnetic particles
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1995Abstract We present the first magnetization measurements of single submicron (Co, CoZr, Ni) particles. As a detector we use a microbridge-dc-SQUID deposited onto or next to the sample. Sample and detector are patterned by electron-beam lithography. The dynamics and the temperature dependence of the magnetization reversal are studied.

Magnetized fluidized bed with binary admixture of magnetizable and nonmagnetizable particles
Reviews in chemical engineering, 2019Magnetic fields were used to successfully improve the fluidization quality of magnetizable particles, forming the magnetized fluidized bed (MFB). Moreover, researchers found that the binary admixture of magnetizable and nonmagnetizable particles could ...

Chaotic motion of neutral and charged particles in a magnetized Ernst-Schwarzschild spacetime
The European Physical Journal Plus, 2018Neutral test particles around a Schwarzschild black hole immersed in an external uniform magnetic field have no interactions of electromagnetic forces, but their motions can be chaotic. This chaotic behaviour is induced by the gravitational effect of the

A new type of flat-panel ambient-illuminated display is described. Images in this display are formed by magnetically controlling the orientations of small spherical multicolored magnetic particles. A demonstration model is shown and the possibility for application to television is studied.

Magnetic particle nanorheology
Colloid and Polymer Science, 2014We investigate the employment of AC susceptometry as a novel method to extract frequency- and scale-dependent rheological properties of soft materials. The approach makes use of the interrelation between the magnetic susceptibility of magnetically blocked tracer particles and the mechanical modulus of the matrix as experienced on the particle scale. We

We have fabricated ultrathin Co particles with various shapes, variable thicknesses δ (2 ML<δ<22 ML), and lateral size L ranging from 100 μm to ≈100 nm. We find that all particles are magnetized in-plane at room temperature and are in a single domain state, independently of shape and size—with some remarkable exceptions. We also find that
