Anatomy of ultrafast quantitative magneto-acoustics in freestanding nickel thin films

open access: yes, 2022
We revisit the quantitative analysis of the ultrafast magneto-acoustic experiment in a freestanding nickel thin film by Kim and Bigot [1] by applying our recently proposed approach of magnetic and acoustic eigenmodes decomposition by Vernik et al.

Single-subject analyses of magnetoencephalographic evoked responses to the acoustic properties of affective non-verbal vocalizations

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2014
Magneto-encephalography (MEG) was used to examine the cerebral response to affective non-verbal vocalizations (ANVs) at the single-subject level. Stimuli consisted of nonverbal affect bursts from the Montreal Affective Voices morphed to parametrically ...

The effect of dynamical compressive and shear strain on magnetic anisotropy in a low symmetry ferromagnetic film [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Dynamical strain generated upon excitation of a metallic film by a femtosecond laser pulse may become a versatile tool enabling control of magnetic state of thin _lms and nanostructures via inverse magnetostriction on a picosecond time scale.

Sound and noisy light: Optical control of phonons in photoswitchable structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a means of controlling phonons via optical tuning. Taking as a model an array of photoresponsive materials (photoswitches) embedded in a matrix, we numerically analyze the vibrational response of an array of bistable harmonic oscillators with ...

The Representational Dynamics of Perceived Voice Emotions Evolve from Categories to Dimensions

open access: yesNature Human Behaviour, 2021
Long-standing affective science theories conceive the perception of emotional stimuli either as discrete categories (for example, an angry voice) or continuous dimensional attributes (for example, an intense and negative vocal emotion).

Magneto-Acoustic Imaging in Biology

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
This review examines the use of magneto-acoustic methods to measure electrical conductivity. It focuses on two techniques developed in the last two decades: Magneto-Acoustic Tomography with Magnetic Induction (MAT-MI) and Magneto-Acousto-Electrical Tomography (MAET).

Discovery of an excited pair state in superfluid 3He [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Order parameter collective modes are the fingerprint of a condensed phase. The spectroscopy of these modes in superfluid $^3$He and unconventional superconductors can provide key information on the symmetry of the condensate as well as the microscopic ...

Magneto-acoustic investigation on steel samples

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract Experiments have been carried out using yoke for energizing alternating magnetic field in the steel samples. We used acoustic emission sensors and ultrasound microphone for recording acoustic signal born in the steel material. Results of experiments clearly show the presence of Acoustic Barkhausen noise.
