Magnetoelastic anisotropy of antiferromagnetic materials
Applied Physics Letters, 2019Antiferromagnetic (AFM) materials are of great interest for spintronics. Here, we report the magnetoelastic anisotropy of an AFM IrMn thin film. An exchange-biased CoFeB/IrMn bilayer was used to obtain a single domain of the AFM thin film, and the magnetic moment arrangement of the AFM layer was deduced from the magnetic hysteresis loop of the pinned ...

Magnetoelastic anisotropy of amorphous microwires
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2003Anisotropy constants of amorphous microwires with positive, negative, and nearly zero magnetostriction, are calculated as function of wire dimensions starting from the distribution of internal stresses induced during preparation. Some basic aspects of their magnetic behavior are subsequently discussed, in correlation with earlier experimental results.

Nanowire arrays, surface anisotropy, magnetoelastic effects and spintronics
Applied Physics Letters, 2012Resonance field Hres variation obtained from ferromagnetic resonance measurements performed versus field angle on ferromagnetic nickel nanowire arrays with different diameters (15 nm to 100 nm) and with temperature varying from liquid helium (4.2 K) to room value indicate presence of large surface anisotropy for small diameter (<50 nm) and ...

Magnetic anisotropy and magnetoelastic properties of SmFe11Ti
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 1997Abstract We investigated the specific magnetization σ( T,B ), torque moments L ( ϕ ), Young's modulus E(T) , internal friction Q −1 ( T ), and magnetostriction λ( B ) of a single crystal and polycrystalline samples, of the SmFe 11 Ti compound, in the temperature region 77–700 K in magnetic fields up to 1.6 T. Below the Curie temperature ( T c =

Magnetoelastic anisotropy distribution in glass-coated microwires
Journal of Materials Research, 1996Amorphous microwires, obtained by the glass-coated melt-spinning method having diameters in the range of micrometers, can exhibit perfectly square (single and large Barkhausen jump) or quasi-anhysteretic hysteresis loops, depending on the easy magnetization direction determined by the intrinsic magnetoelastic anisotropy.

Anisotropy of magnetoelastic phenomena in Lu2Fe17 intermetallics
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2004Abstract The anisotropy of magnetoelastic phenomena that accompanies changes of magnetic structures in the Lu2Fe17 intermetallics was studied under pressure. A huge anisotropy in compression ( d ln c/ d p≅2 d l n a/ d p) and thermal expansion ( d ln c/ d T≅−5 d ln a/ d T) of the Lu2Fe17 crystal lattice ...

Magnetoelastic Nature of the Dodecagonal Anisotropy in Holmium Metal
Physical Review Letters, 2007We have investigated the magnetoelastic nature of the dodecagonal anisotropy in the magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE) in the basal plane of the hcp crystalline structure in holmium single crystal. We have proved that the origin of the second harmonic of the hexagonal symmetry in MAE clearly lies on a sixth-order magnetoelastic coupling term.

Tunable magnetoelastic anisotropy in epitaxial (111) Tm3Fe5O12 thin films
Journal of Applied Physics, 2020Ferrimagnetic insulators with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy are of particular interest for spintronics due to their ability to mitigate current shunting in spin–orbit torque heterostructures and enable low switching energy, high-density storage magnetic devices.

Magnetoelastic coupling and magnetic anisotropy in La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 films
Applied Physics Letters, 1998We report the results of magnetization measurements on pseudomorphic (fully strained) c-axis oriented colossal magnetoresistance manganite thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. We observe uniaxial magnetic anisotropy (hard axis/easy plane) with the easy plane being the film plane. Within the plane a weaker biaxial anisotropy is observed with [100]

Exchange striction, the origin of polycrystalline magnetoelastic anisotropy
Physical Review B, 1981It is analytically shown that the origin of the magnetoelastic anisotropy term $\ensuremath{\Delta}K$, previously established as specific of the polycrystalline state, is related to the product of the strong isotropic virtual "exchange stresses" due to the exchange striction by the anisotropic magnetostrictive deformation constrained by the neighboring
