Unique dependence of magnetoelectric voltage coefficient on bias magnetic field in Terfenol-D/Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 bi-layered composites

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2013
Abstract Terfenol-D/Pb(Zr,Ti)O 3 (PZT) bi-layered thin rectangular composites with varying thickness of PZT layer ( t PZT ) were prepared, and the effect of bias magnetic field ( H dc ) on magnetoelectric voltage coefficient ( α V ) was investigated.

Eddy currents: A misleading contribution when measuring magnetoelectric voltage coefficients of thin film devices

Journal of Applied Physics, 2015
Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe2/Pt/PbZr0.56Ti0.44O3 (Terfenol-D/Pt/PZT) magnetoelectric (ME) thin films were deposited on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate. The ME voltage coefficient αHME was determined at room temperature using a lock-in amplifier and by applying to the sample an alternating magnetic field of a few mT. Surprisingly, very similar responses were obtained from a

Leveraging the strain transfer at the interface between self-composite CoFe2O4 embedded in pre-sintered Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 ceramics matrix for the enhancement of magnetoelectric voltage coefficient

Physica Scripta
Abstract Magnetoelectric particulate composite (100-x) NBT- xCFO(sc) (x = 5,15,25,35) were prepared from pre-sintered NBT and self-composite CFO(sc) by solid-state reaction route. XRD, SEM, and Raman studies confirm the biphasic composite formation without diffusion at the interfaces.

Longitudinal and transverse magnetoelectric voltage coefficients of magnetostrictive/piezoelectric laminate composite: theory

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2003
This paper presents a novel, long-type of magnetostrictive and piezoelectric laminate composite design in which the layers are, respectively, magnetized/poled along their length axes, and a theory for modeling its behavior. Using piezoelectric and magnetostrictive constitutive equations, and an equation of motion, a magneto-elastoelectric bieffect ...

Longitudinal and transverse magnetoelectric voltage coefficients of magnetostrictive/ piezoelectric laminate composite: experiments

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2004
Magnetostrictive Terfenol-D (Tb(x)Dy(1-x)Fe2) and piezoelectric (Pb(Zr(1-x)Ti(x))O3) magnetoelectric (ME) laminate composites have been investigated experimentally for various modes of operation: longitudinal magnetized/longitudinal polarized (L-L mode), transverse magnetized/longitudinal polarized (T-L mode), and transverse magnetized/transverse ...

Influence of electric voltage bias on converse magnetoelectric coefficient in piezofiber/Metglas bilayer laminate composites

Journal of Applied Physics, 2009
Experimental data on a piezofiber/Metglas bilayer composite subjected to both a dc electric voltage bias and a dc magnetic field bias while exciting it with an ac electric driving voltage are presented. As reported in previous studies, a dc magnetic field bias exists to maximize the converse magnetoelectric coefficient.

Magnetoelectric coupling coefficient in multiferroic capacitors: Fact vs Artifacts

Journal of Applied Physics, 2022
Multiferroic materials are characterized by their magnetoelectric coupling coefficient, which can be obtained using a lock-in amplifier by measuring the voltage developed across a multiferroic capacitor in a time-variable magnetic field, Hac cos( ωt ...

Non-reciprocal voltage–current and impedance gyration effects in ferrite/piezoelectric toroidal magnetoelectric composites

, 2021
A compact, efficient, and passive magnetoelectric (ME) gyrator consisting of a toroidal ferrite/piezoelectric composite and coil was developed, and its non-reciprocal V–I/I–V and bidirectional impedance conversion properties were systemically ...
