Plasma Diagnostics of Magnetohydrodynamic Generators

Journal of Energy, 1982
Average measurements of conductivities and Hall parameters in a Faraday MHD generator are presented. The measurement scheme is simple and requires no special probes other than peg walls that provide two-dimensional voltage field measurements in the generator. No corrections are made for the conductivity profiles at the generator walls.

Magnetohydrodynamic generators with nonequilibrium ionization

AIAA Journal, 1965
T earliest serious study of the possibility of utilizing nonequilibrium ionization in MHD generators was carried out by Karlowitz and Halasz at the Westinghouse Research Laboratories between 1938 and 1947. It was originally oriented to the development of a generator that could use combustion products at moderate temperatures.

Magnetohydrodynamic transients in MHD generators

1992
Models for the investigation of transients MHD flows are presented in this paper. Both the study of transients caused by the finite flow time of the plasma through the channel and by transitions between different operating conditions of the generator are considered.
